Travaillons ensemble.

Conclusion

"software code is an imperfect approximation of the needs of a community"

I really enjoy that quote from Dan! I think it comes from an interview. Do you have the source and the timestamp?

Whaaa, I can't find it anymore! Going through those videos again, I see Dan mentioning that Software is an Imperfect Art:

at 10:35, but hold on, I'll keep digging, I'm sure I'll find it again!

Found it!

TIMESTAMP 27:14

Literal quote:

"Code is an imperfect expression of the intention of the community"

Just a line, dropped in from @dan in a Q & A session. It was this line exactly that made me jump up and scream: "Holy crap, this guy GETS IT!!"

Thank you very much!

Being in the business of internet money for me started back in 2000 when i created my first internet money for use with some of my websites, i am a firm believer in block chain and although Bitcoin is the number 1 coin Steem totally impressed me after using bitcoin for years faster, cheaper. Dan's philosophy is right on with the needs of the future, It includes accountability, fairness, equality and a fantastic opportunity for everybody anywhere in the world that is willing to participate, and for bringing us Steem i applaud Mr. Dan Larimer and will always be grateful. But i have one question, when i receive cash money do i have to know it's history who possessed the dollar bills before me? There will always be nefarious individuals who will try to game the system and others who will use it in ways it was not intended, but with an open ledger architecture such as blockchain they can be easily identified, something that cannot be done with cash. This is great but i'm pretty sure you don't reveal how much money you have in your bank account freely to anyone who asks. So i think that privacy issues are a trade off and could still be an issue for some people. Since miners that have been an essential part of this frame work since the conception are now being replaced by faster more efficient and secure system of nodes a lot of the older security problems can be addressed, this was the genius thought that is now revolutionizing the world crypto right now in the present so hats off to Dan he's still number 1.

In the quote we can notice that there are still people with an unshakable faith and a great heart. To change the world is possible, just as it is now to fly in an airplane, we only need the absolute support of education.
The greatest virtue of blockchain is its transparency, the place where it hides nothing, generates an overwhelming confidence, having confidence everything advances in the best way.
Networks have become a part of our lives and it would be amazing to see more quality education in them, let's put heart into ideas and we will achieve a better world, I think steemit is a great place to start.

Thank You @TeamSteem for including the video of Dan Larimer explaining where Blockchain Technology can take us, as we evolve into the Future.

Dan really is THE MAN... he certainly has been "Blessed & Gifted" with the ability to change the world via Blockchain Technology.

ALSO... it seems that the more I learn ( which is almost everyday ) as it pertains to Blockchain Technology... The MORE I realize how little I really know.

Thanks Again TeamSteem for everything You do within the Steemit Community.

Resteemed... Cheers !!

Thank you @sacred-agent! I always appreciate your comment and support!

I'm still not exactly clear on what @dan envisions will stop his systems from being dominated by the 'bad actors' that run the world today, when - in steem at least - the deciding factor in many cases is not 'truth' or even 'proof of brain', but 'proof of wallet'.. If those with the most fiat currency can buy votes and boost their reputations artificially, then they can dominate the network. I calculated that it takes roughly $15 million USD to vote yourself into a top witness position. If you control the infinite money machine of fiat banking, then you can totally dominate a POS system. I'm interested to find out how EOS is intended to address this. I don't really know much about the technicalities of EOS at this point.

Steem has it is today isn't the Steem Dan had originally created. We are far away from what Dan had first envision and Dan stated this very clearly. His comment can be found [here].(https://steemit.com/eos/@dan/proof-of-good-governance#@dan/re-dhouse-re-dan-proof-of-good-governance-20180101t041025775z) Linear reward is the issue here.

As to buying one place to a position of witness or block producer, the more one put in the more they risk and the more they will make the price of Steem or EOS go up. There's no free lunch here as opposed to fiat currency.

Dan has clearly stated his goals and he's working on them tirelessly. I haven't seen such goals stated so clearly that made so much sense. No matter what it is that we are trying we must try.

Thanks for the link to dan's post - I hadn't seen that one before. It is unfortunate to see ned's bickering response below although no doubt some of his points are valid too. It would really help everyone if we remembered that we are dealing with very challenging issues and there are a lot of emotions around - so it is to be expected that disagreements will arise, but working back to balance also means between individuals too.

With regards the issue of the buying witness slots - If you are in one of the banking families and controllers of the fiat currencies then you have basically an unlimited amount of money, so there is no real risk associated with losing it. If you lose $15 million, so what? If you lose 15 billion? So what?

I actually heard a quote from Brock Pierce that alleges that he himself said he wasn't bothered about donating a billion dollars of his own money to some aspect of EOS that will be used to form a society (I don't know if that is true or not). My point is just that to those who want to control mass consciousness, 15 million or even 150 million is a small price to pay if it achieves part of that objective. Money is absolutely not a high priority for them in that sense, but control IS (including control of money).

I still don't really know what dan is delivering with Eos to meet his objectives. The challenge is that what can seem like an empowering feature from one perspective, can also turn out to be an enslaving feature from another perspective. I'm not sure he is going to be able to navigate all the twists and turns to produce a truly perfect system, but yes - I am certainly excited to find out what he produces!

Thank you! I really enjoyed reading your comment.

The banking house would be better off buying mining rigs. That's one of the reasons why I think Bitcoin will remain the driving force of cryptocurrency for a long time to come. People in EOS and other POS or DPOS cryptocurrency will always look to diversify in a cryptocurrency that has a better distribution and Bitcoin has the better distribution than EOS, ETH, LTC, XRP, NEO, BCH or any other crypto for that matter.

The banking houses or the world most powerful warlord were the person who had the most resources to create Bitcoin and if any of those "warlords" created Bitcoin they had to decide what was the risk of not releasing it and what would happen if someone else discovered it and releases it. For these reasons and many others I tend to think Bitcoin was created by some shadow government even though there's is no way to prove this, it is still something that can't be discarded and need to be taken into account.

I also tend to think there is only one organization controlling all countries or at least influencing them directly to a large extent. Yes all of them. Again, there's no way to prove this but no matter what people say it is still something that can't be disproved.

You are welcome!
There is nothing stopping the banking families buying mining rigs AND controlling DPOS type social nets. It's cheaper for them to create more fiat currency out of nothing than it is for them to buy and run mining rigs.

I think you already know about Carroll Quigley, but his work is perhaps the best documentary evidence of 'the network' that undermines and controls most if not all 'significant' nations. I think these things can be proven according to some levels of proof - in theory it is only necessary to prove that methods exist to overpower and control even the most honest human using remote influencing technology, torture and blackmail.. From there it is relatively simple to show how these methods can be used to control nations remotely. Sad, but true.

Thank you very much for this and I very much agree.

I do know Carrol Quigley. I'll use the term network to refer to "them". That's the right way to refer to them. Most of the Bitcoin that will ever be emitted has already been emitted. Whether or not the network created Bitcoin they were there very early, most probably in the first year and as you mentioned they can always gain access to whatever they want with the threat of torture and subversion.

No matter what, fiat was going to 0. It was designed this way.

I really don't know what the intended plan for fiat was/is - it just looks like an insane confidence trick that relies on unconsciousness among the people for it to continue. Figuring out where it was intended to go it a bit like trying to figure out where Dogecoin is going.. lol

By the way, I am about to start campaigning for witness votes again (once I finish moving my website to a new server in the next 24 hours).. I just happened to check your votes as I was talking with you and can see you are voting for someone who is no longer a witness - @imacryptorick

  • it would be great if you'd consider switching over to me. :)

Thank you for letting me know. I'll consider you.

the problem with linear rewards is that people are selling their votes to bots, etc.....the poor are still poor(and even more).....you should just stop the voting bots, curation trails, colluded votes, etc....and the linear author reward......so people would post for fun...and maybe the post gets viral....I didn't live those times but from what I read were much better than the actual times....people were spontaneous, etc....now everything is calculated. they say people whose name start with a D are special.....I am an exception to the rule....but Dan should be a very very special guy, although I think he should listen to his father and embrace christianity more.
