😥Broken Pinky X-Ray😥

It was a nice warm fall day, it has been raining so the back yard is a mud pit. So we let the kiddos go out front and ride bikes in the driveway. The front also has my anniversary rose garden. For the past few years as a present, I have got a rose bush on our anniversary. Around my garden are large rocks that the kids have painted.

Well these rocks don’t get left alone now. Like they are some kind of toy while they are up front. Bailey is also in the stage of throwing things. Learning oh so well from her brother. Within a split second Bailey tosses a large rock and it lands right on JRs right hand. Pinky finger to be exact. Lots of blood and screaming get him inside to run it under cold water to see the damage. At this point, seems like his nail is about to fall off. This happens to be right at the time pediatricians is closed, so have to wait for on call doctor to call back and suggests we go to a new urgent care in bad part of town. Said it will be faster and care would be the same. So load everyone in the truck to take the girls to grandpas and JR to urgent care. Once we arrive, after having no idea where to even go and park. At sign in, they aren’t even sure if they can help him seeing it’s the nail they don’t deal with things like that. Probably have to go to the ER next door and wait hours. Either way he needs X-rays. So get us into a room clean it up and decide it was the skin just moved like a sock over the nail. As they are cleaning it I am getting lightheaded trying to watch and hubby @veteranforcrypto keeps telling me to stop watching but I had to see what they are doing to my baby. Get his pinky wrapped up and this whole time he’s been trying to play like normal moving it seeming like was just the outer problem.





Take him to get the X-ray and of course it is broken. No where would we have known. Kids a trooper with pain! He has a fork in his fingertip. Discharge us from there within couple hours with a referral to an orthopedic surgeon. The next morning as soon as they open I am calling to get his appointment. Of course very booked but squeeze him in given the circumstance. This appointment took just as long as the urgent care visit. Surgery is scheduled to have his nail removed and repair the bone. Poor baby. In the meantime he has to keep the brace on and keep it wrapped which is so hard for such an active toddler. Waking up multiple times a night crying it came off again. He just wants to play as normal and it’s so hard to keep reminding him “hey lil dude fingers broke can’t do that or that or well just sit down!” So now very nerve wracking of him to have to be put to sleep and have this repaired all over a rock...
