Foxie on a mission - A story for children aged 7-12 - PART 16

in #fiction6 years ago (edited)

While Milo ran searching for some form of water to quench his thirst, Jasper, Grandma Owl and Foxie discussed all the possibilities of the word 'strigiformes'. After coming up with various kinds of explanations such as 'gold', 'silver', 'sun rays', 'dew drops' and even 'teeth', al of which has the ability to shine, they came to the conclusion that they would all be alert and watch for anything that shines to be able to crack the riddle once and for all.

Just as they finished talking, a sudden loud noise echoed through the woods. It was a deafening sound and they could feel the earth trembling below their feet. It wasn't like a gunshot or anything else familiar, but it scared the daylights out of them. They all looked into the direction that Milo went in, as one. It was then that something very strange happened.

Foxes from all over the woods came running towards them from all directions and surrounded the whole area. They all looked the same, but what was even more strange, was that they all looked exactly the same as Foxie. Every spot, every hair, every single detail looked like him. They looked like exact copies of him!

In the far distance, Milo could be spotted crawling closer very quietly. He hid behind a tree and as soon as he made eye contact with Jasper, he pointed quietly with his paw in the direction they were in. It looked like he was trying to tell him something, but Jasper could not make out what he was trying to communicate. The foxes were all dead quiet. None of them made any sound - they just sat there staring at them.

"Greetings, furry friends!" said a voice coming from behind them.

Grandma Owl nearly fainted as she suddenly realized what was going on. Behind them stood the one and only Magnus, all dressed in black and silver with his magical stick clutched between his fingers. He looked old. His white beard stood out below his pointy hat and the smell of lavender was overwhelming.

Not sure what to do, it was Grandma Owl who decided to speak first. She greeted him politely while lifting her right wing up to her forehead and then letting it down straight after. It appeared as if she knew exactly what she was doing as she introduced Jasper and Milo to him.

"I believe we've met before," said Magnus, looking into Jasper's eyes. "How do you do?"

Jasper lifted his paw up to his forehead as well as he greeted Magnus with utmost respect. He leaned over a little to his left to bump his shoulder against Foxie's in an attempt to get him to do the same. It took a few subtle tries and excessive sniffing for Foxie to catch on and as soon as he lifted his paw to his forehead, all the other foxes did exactly the same.

Magnus nodded with his head to acknowledge Foxie's gesture and without saying a word to him, he redirected his attention to a completely different subject.

"Tell the canine to come out of hiding," ordered Magnus.

You copy and paste a sentence from the story and then someone votes for it ???? Very weird . Or sneaky??

She seems to be doing it everywhere. Flagged her for it now. Did she really think we wouldn't notice?

People are truly weird
