Can We Do It? (An Original Poem)
Can we do it?
Has time held us back,
or is it just us?
I remember how you used to say,
that live in the moment.
But we didn't, did we?
Those timeless pictures,
half finished cups of coffee,
kisses interrupted by the doorbell.
We were too busy.
Covering up,
running away from moments,
too blinded by the future,
to live in the present
Half fulfilled dreams,
tickets to a different world
lying on the table,
clocks ticking away,
never ending conversations,
about how things could've been,
unfulfilled love,
photographs tucked away
under the bed as a memory.
Could we have
what we dreamed of?
Love inevitably,
hold on to days,
than look past them.
Can we make a story
out of our broken letters,
or is this the closest
we can be to our forever?
