Number of reviews by Moderator

A few reports ago I wrote that the low number of contributions could be because the price of STEEM was low and the whole market was bearish. Some users told me that those were independent facts. Well, this week STEEM price increased almost 40% and we had almost 4 times more contributions than the previous week. Coincidence? What do you think?
This week we had 15 contributions and 13 have a chance of being rewarded, or have already been rewarded by Utopian.
The average score was the lowest of the past 4 weeks. But the good thing is that we had contributions from old users, some of them submitted 5 posts this week!
Also, we had good contributions from @blockchainstudio, @lostmine27 and @lifecruiser, who already contributed this month. Nice to see you again! ;)
Another good thing is that @syedumair is back to the moderation team!
Check the contest! One of the bottom jumped 2 or 3 positions and a new contributor is in the race!
Remember that upvotes are never guaranteed.

Common mistakes and how to fix them

source

The aim of this section is to show you the most common mistakes found this week. Followed by a short description and tips when applicable. Usually, I split the section in two: Contributions with a score of 25 or less and Contributions with a score of 50 or less.

1 - Contributions with a score of 25 or less

1.1 The suggested feature is already in the project

Always try the app before suggesting new features. Use it a few days, look at the repository, read the entries in the Issues Tracker, look for alternative apps and check if they has the feature that you are going to submit. To get a higher score try to submit original/rare/unique features, these are more valuable for the PO.
Check if there are features that can be used to achieve the same goal with the same effort.

1.2 - The proposal is not detailed enough

The proposal should be as informative and descriptive as possible. This will help the project owner (and the people who read your post) to understand your suggestion. Avoid being vague about the benefits of your idea.

1.3 - The suggested idea is duplicated

This is not easy to spot, so do not rush and take few minutes to check it.
Go to the repository of the project and check the Issues Tracker.
Remove the is:open filter from the search field (to look for open and closed issues).
Write a word (or two). The keyword(s) of the feature(s) you are going to submit.
After that, look at if someone submitted it on Utopian in the past, you can use this great tool made by @crokkon.

2 - Contributions with a score of 50 or less

2.1 - The impact on the functionality and usability of the project is low

If the overall of your post is excellent, but your idea has little impact on the functionality and/or usability of the project, you will get a few point less. Try to suggest unique, original and useful features.

Interesting open source projects

In case that you want to contribute on the Suggestions category but do not know any project, check this list.

1 - Keychain

Steem Keychain is an extension for accessing Steem-enabled distributed applications, or "Dapps" in your normal Chrome browser!
The extension injects the Steem Keychain API into every website's javascript context, so that dapps can read from the blockchain.
Steem Keychain also lets the user create and manage their own identities, so when a Dapp wants to perform a transaction and write to the blockchain, the user gets a secure interface to review the transaction, before approving or rejecting it.

Much more than a browser, Brave is a new way of thinking about how the web works.
Brave is on a mission to fix the web by giving users a safer, faster and better browsing experience – while growing support for content creators through a new attention-based ecosystem of rewards.

Thank you for providing the weekly overview of the Suggestion category. As always, the report is comprehensive and accurate. It's obvious that the past week was a remarkable week for the category. It has been long we received such an amount of contribution. Well, it could be because of Steem token bullish run in the week, but whatever, I hope the streak continues.
Finally, @syedumair is back from his long break. So good to have him. Thanks for providing the tips, and those awesome projects for contributors.

Have a great week!

Please note that while the CM hasn't changed the footer, I am not scoring #iamutopian posts based on the questionnaire. They have their own metric, and that will be the case until we go live with the new guidelines and new questionnaire, which will be comprehensive enough to reflect these types of posts.

Your contribution has been evaluated according to Utopian policies and guidelines, as well as a predefined set of questions pertaining to the category.
