Category summary
- Week: 47 (from Nov. 15 to Nov. 22)
- There were 3 contributions of which 1 have a chance of being rewarded, or have already been rewarded.
- The average score was 36
- There were a total of 3 unique contributors in the category.
Number of reviewed and rewarded contributions
Average score
This week was one of the worst weeks of the year. The number of contributions was one of the lowest of the year and the average score even lower.
We had 3 unique contributors, two of them are new in the categroy. That is something good although their contributions did not follow the guidelines nor the basic policies. Policies vs Guidelines
In my opinion, the main problem of the Suggestions category is that you can submit a limited number of suggestions/ideas per project. Do not get me wrong, this is not a rule, this is a fact. When an app is realesed, it means that it is almost finished, the author added everything that he wanted to implement. The contributions can request new features but, how many?.
I know that there are almost an infinite number of open source projects but, for some reason, contributors focus on Steem-based apps.
Should we accept trivial suggestions again?
Remember that upvotes are never guaranteed.
Top scored contributions
Unfortunately we did not have Staff picks (nor good contributions) this week.
Mini contest
Prize: 5 STEEM every month (If more contributors are participating, I will increase the prize).
How? Submit a contribution to the Suggestions category. A contributor can submit more than one contribution per week. If your contribution got a score higher than 50 you get points.
- Points:
- Staff pick: 5 points
- Contribution with the highest score: 2 points.
- Contribution with the second highest score: 1 point.
When? At the end of every month I will send the prize to the winner.
Ranking of November
Author | Points |
---|---|
ckole | 4 |
tykee | 1 |
snackaholic | 1 |
Disclaimer
: The prize is taken from my personal account. This is an unofficial contest. It is only for the Suggestions category. You must not complain to Utopian about this contest. If something is wrong with the points, or if the rules are not clear, you should write to me, not to Utopian.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
The aim of this section is to show you the most common mistakes found this week. Followed by a short description and some tips/advices when applicable. I split the section in two: Contributions with a score of 25 or less and Contributions with a score of 50 or less.
1 - Contributions with a score of 25 or less
1.1 - The project is not open source
As you may know, Utopian only supports open source projects. Those which are closed source are not supported by Utopian, therefore, are not scored.
If you have problems looking for valid repositories I recommend you to read this post. Also, check my weekly reports. There you will find interesting open source projects with valid repositories.
2 - Contributions with a score of 50 or less
2.1 - The impact on the functionality and usability of the project is low
If the overall of your post is excellent, but your idea has little impact on the functionality and/or usability of the project, you will get a few point less. Try to suggest unique, original and useful features.
Interesting open source projects
In case that you want to contribute on the Suggestions category but do not know any project, check this list.
1 - Quasar (@quasarframework)
The Quasar Framework is a node.js command-line-interface and a vue.js component library for developing and publishing a website; for building and optimising a progressive web-app; a way to make native apps for Linux, MacOS and Windows with Electron; and even a system for creating mobile apps for Android and iOS with Cordova. It does all of this from one user-maintained code-base using tricks of the trade, best-practices and a curated selection of node modules. And it is 100% open source with a liberal MIT license. 2 - KnackSteem (@knacksteem.org)
KnackSteem was created by @knowledges, one of the most experienced Utopian CMs.
It is a steem based project that uses the steem blockchain as means of rewarding its contributors.
KnackSteem is aimed to reward great and passionate article writers, hard-working individuals willing to promote their culture and interesting, original skills. It aims to remove the need for mediators and encourage cultural activities and sharing your passion with a wide audience, getting rewarded in the process. [Source]

3 - Godot
Godot Engine is a feature-packed, cross-platform game engine to create 2D and 3D games from a unified interface. It provides a comprehensive set of common tools, so that users can focus on making games without having to reinvent the wheel. Games can be exported in one click to a number of platforms, including the major desktop platforms (Linux, Mac OSX, Windows) as well as mobile (Android, iOS) and web-based (HTML5) platforms.
Free, open source and community-driven. [Source]

Fun fact: Godot was created by an Argentinian dev. No, not me :P

This is a very nice report. Comprehensive and well detailed with appropriate graphical contents. I perceive it's another quiet week for the Suggestions category. The bloodbath in the crypto world could be the reason for this.
I agree with the fact that limited contributions can be submitted on a project. I have made a lot of feature requests on different projects. So, I understand that some PO's get annoyed when they receive excessive requests.
Thank you for the report, and I hope to see quality contributions flowing into the Suggestions category.
Please note that while the CM hasn't changed the footer, I am not scoring #iamutopian posts based on the questionnaire. They have their own metric, and that will be the case until we go live with the new guidelines and new questionnaire, which will be comprehensive enough to reflect these types of posts.
Your contribution has been evaluated according to Utopian policies and guidelines, as well as a predefined set of questions pertaining to the category.
