#1 Ayutthaya, Ancient Capital of Siam

@poorcirculation takes us to Ayutthaya in Thailand. This old city, was founded in the mid-fourteenth century and used to be the capital of the region back in the days. At its peak in the early 18th century, it had a population of almost one million people, making it one of the largest cities at the world at the time. If we compare to Bangkok today, those numbers do feel small, but at the time the world population was a lot lower as well. Long before Thailand existed, this part of Asia consisted out of multiple smaller kingdoms, with Ayutthaya being the wealthiest and strongest of them all. This still shows in the ruins of temples and Buddha sculptures found in the old city. So how did such an impressive civilization come to its downfall? By making one to many enemies. In 1767 Burmese forces managed to overrun and sack the city, with may of the stunning buildings burnt to the ground completely. Nowadays you can still see parts of how it used to be, and it will loosen your imagination on how incredible this city had to have been during its peak.

#2 One Day in Nara, Japan

@jalayn takes us to Nara, Japan. Another ancient capital city, but in this case during the 8th century. Deer and people live side by side, with a form of mutual respect, in this city. After visiting the Kofuku-ji Buddhist Temple and the Nara National Musuem @jalayn visits the Nara Park. One of the things that immediately will catch your eye is a huge tree, over a thousand years old! From here it's onward to the Kasuga-Taisha shrine, through moss overgrown lanterns on both sides of the road and deer walking up. To finish up the trip, we get shown a part of the Todai-ji temple complex, with its stunning panoramic view over Nara and go to check out the Buddha Vairocana, the largest bronze Buddha statue housed in what used to be the biggest wooden building!

#3 The Streets of Trinidad

@fedoraonmyhead takes us to the streets of Trinidad, Cuba. This touristy city, with narrow cobblestone streets, centuries old Spanish colonial architecture and an incredible beach draws a lot of visitors. Life in Cuba in some ways hasn't changed a lot over the years, with horses and old-timer cars still being used as regular ways of transport. Walking through the streets, you'll surely be entertained by various street musicians, perfect salsa opportunity right there! The most famous sight in Trinidad is the Plaza Mayor, but perhaps more interesting in a way is the fact that around this area is one of the few where you can find WiFi. Cuba is stingy with given its citizens access to the internet!
