Travel Digest

For our first featured post of today @derangedvisions takes us on a safari in Tanzania. The first place up is the hippo swamp, and whilst the hippos are impressive, the smell from the swamp is horrible. The water is polluted by feces from the animals. As it is with nature, this pollution did cause for different types of animals to thrive, certain bugs and birds in particular. In the swamp there was also a crocodile laying still, waiting for its next meal! After the swamp it's time to explore the Savannah, spotting of a cheetah, giraffes and zebras. Close to the zebras there was a pack of lionesses hunting as well, but with more trucks arriving, the zebra got spooked and the lionesses decided not to chase after it. And as if that wasn't enough wildlife for the day, a group of elephants suddenly wander past. Last but definitely not least, a call comes on in the truck that a jaguar has been spotted! Being one of the most elusive animals on the Serengeti, the excitement is high! To complete the adventure, they were camping out in the Serengeti, right in between all the wild predators.

@samanthajbarnes takes us to the Belogradchik Fortress in Bulgaria. This fortress dates back to the days of the Roman Empire and since - has a very rich history. From being a watchpost to become a fortified fortress in the 14th century to be overrun by the Ottomans right after. With the last bit of military action being in the 19th century during the Serbo-Bulgarian war. From the top of the fort, you'll also get a stunning panoramic view of the area. Looking over the town of Belogradchik and the Balkan Mountains with its incredible rock formations. Wandering around the whole area, makes you wonder about all the people that have fought and lived there and what their stories would sound like.

For our last featured post @beckymeep takes us to Whitewater Preserve in California, USA. After hitting a rough patch in life, one of the best ways to calm the mind is exploring a beautiful place for @beckymeep. The Whitewater preserve holds multiple trails, but you'll have to arrive early if you want parking space! You'll be able to find a rock with a list of the several trails and the distance. And another one with a quote from John Muir. Deciding on the 3.5 mile hike, they set out. Eventually the hike leads to the top of the ridge, leaving us with stunning valley views. On the way back, they pass a warning sign for rattle snakes, to run into one a moment later! Luckily, they spotted the snake in time and after relaxing a bit near a nearby stream, it is time to drive back home.
