Minnow Grows Into A Dolphin - My First 60 Days On Steemit

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

🐬 Steemit is miraculous when you think about it. People all over the world, whom most have never met, coming together and collaborating on so many projects, all catalyzed by Steemit. It's exciting to see it develop.

I've been on Steemit for 60 days now and have read some awesome posts and chatted with some really cool people.

Reaching Goals

My roommates call me a Steem Head because I've been totally steeming out and even my cat is looking at me funny. Like I own her money or something. She'll get right up on my keyboard when she's had enough and needs some attention. Still, I've managed to feed the ducks, chickens, rabbits, dogs, goats and the cat while feeding my Steemit addiction.

A month ago, I wrote a post so I'd have a record of my goals on Steemit and I looked at it again today, 60 days in.

I'm happy to discover that I'm hitting every milestone so far. The only one I have not done is create a Steemit tutorial. At the time I wrote that post, I thought I could make a better Steemit tutorial then the ones I was finding in my searches.

Then I found @sykochica and @steemitguide. They got that covered so well that I crossed it off my list. Definitely follow them to learn how to get the best understanding of how Steemit works.

Results so far in 60 days:

  • 11.1 million vests
  • 4500 Steem Power
  • 1200 posts
  • 251 followed
  • 65 Reputation

I'm not sure how official this is, but in this post by @merej99 titled, The Steemit Newbie's Comprehensive Guide To Understanding Your Wallet by @merej99, she quoted an ealier post by @beanz that says the following amount of vests qualify a user in the different stages on Steemit.

  • Plankton = up to 1M VESTS
  • Minnow = >1 to 10M VESTS
  • Dolphin = >10 to 100M VESTS
  • Orca = >100 to 1,000M VESTS
  • Whale = >1,000M VESTS

If this is correct then I'm now a baby dolphin.

Current Projects

Some of the projects I'm involved in to help build the community on Steemit are:

open-mic-thumbnail.png

  • Open Mic - A place where singers, musicians and songwriters can perform a song for Steemit and win Steem. This is a very fun, weekly contest that has been gathering interest and support from the community with sponsorship from @pfunk. If you sing or play an instrument, I invite you to come check it out and even if you don't play or sing, come vote for the performers.

  • SteemTrail - This is a curating group much like project @curie that focuses on specific categories on Steemit. The categories I'm a team member of are the Music-Trail, Travel-Trail, and Gardening-Trail. By building interest in these categories, I'm helping to attract new users and build the communities around these interests. If you're interested in these subjects, click the links to discover our guidelines and on the SteemTrail link to find categories that interest you.

Congratulations!

As one of your followers I will be watching (and upvoting) as you continue to contribute to the SteemIt community and grow to become an orca and eventually a whale.

Steem on,
Mike

Thanks for the support. I'm following you too.

You've worked hard, brought a lot of value to the site and have really provided great info. I'm glad to be following you as another little dolphin. :)

Dolphins love to swim in pods. Steem on @anotherjoe, I'm right beside you.

@luzcypher Well done! Thank you for all you do for the music community here on Steemit! This medium is so interesting and fun and I appreciate your help and guidance along the way. Cheers! On to Orca!

Love what you're doing for the music community too @jessamynorchard and that song Cross Me you did with @d-ro is awesome! 🐳

@robbied is now also on Steemit as of today, so in addition to notes from his producer @d-ro on their tracks, I'm also hoping @robbied will bring some more diversity with some freestyles to your OpenMic. :)

The more the merrier. Thanks for plugging it.

Excellent post and well done..... Those are some hectic stats !!

Thanks. I guess I'm really getting into Steemit. It's such a fun place to be. I feel like we're in the right place at the right time doing the right things with the right people.

Congrats and welcome to the Dolphin club! This is an inspiring and helpful post and I wish you all the best!

Much appreciated.

Nicely done, and way to be a positive leader in the Steem Space as well. :)

Thanks @whatsup. I'm glad to see you're still hanging in there too.

WOW awesome effort, you bring huge value to the Steemit community. #SteemOn #VivaLaSteemit

Congratulations on reaching all of your milestones. I might just have become inspired to make a goals blog post too. ^_^
