Gratitude To My Fans Who Asked After Me... To All Newbies, Take Commenting More serious: Let Me Show You How To Make Your Comments Count...

in #steemit7 years ago

Greetings to the Steemians fans of this page. It has been a long period of silence from this end. Perhaps some of you who used to visiting this from afar, whom I don't belong to the same community with, might have been wondering: 'what's up with @eurogee?'; 'why hasn't his page being updated?'. @eurogee is fine. Just that sometimes, things happen and one has to sit up in order not to continue in the wrong direction.

To those who sent me personal messages, commending my efforts in bringing recent research Breakthroughs to the fore for the benefits of all, while seeking to know when the next publication would be made, I am excited to know that there are some people who have bookmarked this page. Last few days has been been quite eventful for me. And I had learned quite some great lessons. And these significant lessons that I had learned would be infused into my future research related articles.

Now unto the business of the day, while I was inactive, I was opportuned to attend mentorship session held by leaders of #bluewavesproject @ogochukwu and @dragonslayer109. And in that class I learnt a lot on how to leave a comment on blog pages in such a way that anyone who reads it would be tempted to check out your blog. This I learnt particularly from @ogochukwu. I also learnt from @dragonslayer109 the best way to approach Steemit in order to ensure you grow with your immediate community. I consider these the best advices I had received ever since I joined this program. Because I found these advices useful, I trust you too would certainly find it very beneficial. Thus explains why I have decided to post about it in my today's blog post.

The Format Of A Catchy Comment

One of the basic principles on which Steemit is built upon is competition for attention; for fame. You must seek to be known and recognized before you start seeing the rewards. However, there are positive and negative recognition. If you are recognized negatively, you will surely regret being here as you will be frustrated out of the program. Positive recognition is the major fulcrum on which success is built in this program.

One of the tools, according to @ogochukwu, to attract attention to your blog is qualitative comment as against quantitative comment. As a newbie who is relatively unknown, engaging in aggressive, objective commenting is far more moneymaking than making blog posts that would earn less than one dollar, and end up demoralizing you. This is the most common mistakes a great number of newbies make. Steemit is not a get rich quick scheme; you must build your base, your foundation before hoping to earn any significant amount.

Another mistake newbies make in trying to attract attention is making quantitative comment. They would want to cover as many dolphin and whale pages as possible. Through such inordinate ambition, they are caught trolling about and sometimes severely dealt with. Of course, you don't try such rubbish on the blogs of @stellabelle and @maryfavour and get away unscathed. While I am not aware of other but these two in particular don't give room for such crooked way of seeking attention. So you must be careful not to incur the wrath of powers that be. And see yourself at zero level.

*Attributes Of A typical Qualitative Comment

NB: whatever that would be discussed here is not meant to discredit other styles of comment, but to discuss and pass knowledge with respect to a comment Style I find more revealing.*

A qualitative comment has some attributes that make them elicit interest. These includes:

  • Salutation: once you click the reply button to comment on a post, call the attention of the author by writing; 'Hello @author's username'. For example: 'Hello @adore-eu, Hello @dubem-eu, Hi @edith4angelseu, etc. By so doing, you have already recognized them by way of calling their attention. And then allow a paragraph line before pouring out your opinion.

An example of ideal comment by @ogochukwu

  • Contextual body: here is where you carry out an objective analysis of the author's thesis and either agree with the author or disagree with him, all with valid reasons.

Even if the article is long and you cannot endure reading it all, you can quote a paragraph and analyze it. And take a position; for or against. The author will be happy that you actually read his work and may reward you. Others visiting the author's page may reward you as well. Or even follow you. Check out @turpsy style of commenting. Also @greenrun. These two are among great commenters I know of. @smyle would rather upvote and leave without commenting at all than making meaningless comment. @sweetestglo-eu are also @honourmaus part of the gang. @ewuoso too.

  • Commenter's signature: After writing the body, endeavor to leave your username at end. You can take a clue from the screenshot image above.

Avoid Short Comments

As I had said earlier on, sometimes in order to cover as much higher blog pages as possible, newbies are caught in the act of trolling. This is bad. Leaving very short and meaningful comments are highly frown at in the community. It is better not to comment at all; just upvote and leave than writing 'Nice post', 'good work,' awesome ', etc

Some people may not take this lightly. Even if it's two comments you are able to write in a day, ensure they are of high quality. This is important.

I will have to stop here, I will be revealing what I learned from @dragonslayer109 in my next post. Ensure you are in tune with this page. Thanks for reading and I trust you are able to learn one or two things here.

Sort:

Hi, I noticed I'm mentioned here. I think you onto something on leaving meaningful comments. Never knew I'm considered a model of sort in that kind of thing, I usually leave comments on posts that I like, found interesting or read. You know it is hard to leave a comment on a post when you did not read it.

I noticed a steemit user do a contest, the contest is unique in its way. He wrote an article of about 1000 words. Great diction and grammar style, but there was a catch. Almost at the end, he inserted a clue for someone that actually read the article to win 2SBD. Do you know that it was only one person that saw it? The post had like 20 "views" when I happened to read it. In the comment section I saw like three "nice, great post." They actually know it was great but none won the SBD!

It's surreal, I may just do such contest. Hehehehe

I noticed another intriguing trend too, some may read and drop meaningful comment, but the blog owner just ignores it, especially when the commentator is a minor. But if it's a whale... you guys know the deal. Lol. I believe steemit is a social media first before it was an earning platform. People hardly socialise here, it's all about the SBD. Well, to each his own :)

The coolest thing about this dude is the fact you stay humble in the face of appreciate.

Green, you will take the next mentorship lessons. Please mentor me. Hehehe.

This is a post on its own ,i think you should elaborate on it and post it for more views

Ok. I may just do that, this is a tempting offer :)

Hello @greenrun

You might not believe this but I learnt a thing or two about commenting form you.

@ogochukwu

I guess we all learn from each other, this is what makes steemit an awesome platform.

@greenrun

You have made a erythromycin meaningful contribution as well as observation here. I will surely respond to the issues you raise in my future post. However, one truth in your comment is the fact that a great number of people here are just here for the SBD. Remove sbd and you will see them run away. Two persons I know of are special exceptions here : @gbenga and @surpassinggoogle whom I have been fortunate to read their bitter experiences in the past under this program but they still persevered and today they are quite successful here. Await my post. Thanks for checking my blog out

@eurogee

That's awesome, the SBD is a good motivation, but it shouldn't be the sole motivation. Looking forward to reading your well researched articles. Kudos

Lols thanks

Hello @eurogee

I'm glad to be reading your blog after a long waiting time, this you came with this time around is a mind blowing topic... The issue of commenting is a good one... But do you know the problem with users this days? To me it seems we are becoming too lazy.... Also, some are money minded but little do we know that commenting at times pays more than making a post

Permit me to add to your point...

  • leaving a good comment on someone page can get you a follower
  • leaving a good comment can lure someone to your blog
  • leaving a good comment can fetch you more reward than in posting
  • commenting can get you closer to some big fish than you could imagine
  • the best way to get attention of a whale is to interact on his post
  • commenting proves your worth in the community

The Best Thing To I personally love the mist now is commenting.

Boss permit me to drop my pen now.... Off to make a post.... LOL... I'm tired of no posting... Let's start posting together from today onward.....

I'm Happy You Are Back
@honourmaus

Did you study steemit to PhD level? :)

Hahaha.... I think i was the best student... LOL.... You are quite funny friend.....

Hello @greenrun

That's a good question directed to @honourmaus. The guy is a time bomb!

@eurogee

LOL..... Hope my LOL is not like a short comment shar......

Hello @honourmaus

Another name that befits you is energy incarnate. It seems as though this comment you just left here now contains more information than my actual post itself. Kudos to you bro. Continue to dish out you best side

@eurogee

Nice to have you back boss.
Comment really does wonders and replying comments too.

They should always remember to click on reply on their page to see if there is something to attend to.

Without reaching out to people here,you cant be reached

Thanks to you too @jeaniepearl, I huge you guys effort in helping newbies like me..many are just like me that we are still trying to get things right here.. People like you and @eurogee make it more fulfilly to be here on Steemit. Steem on boss

You are very right my dear

This is one of the best and educative posts I have read since I joined the community. It feels more like a slap in the face learning the truth about the effects of my actions and inactions on another steemian's post. HOWEVER I have learnt a great deal of things from reading your amazing post @eurogee. I hope that I will be able to cultivate them. Look forward to learning a lot more from your next post. thanks

Hello @khojo

Thanks for your interest in my posts. The hidden truth is here nobody is an exemption; we all learn from one another. I can learn from you as well. And that's what makes this platform uniquely awesome

@eurogee

Oh oh!, no wonder I haven't been noticed since all this while.. Anyway thanks to you @eurogee.. More grease to your elbows.STEEM ON!

Hello @princeola

Thanks. As you have known now, sit up and face the music. Success awaits you at the long end

@eurogee

A very incisive piece @eurogee.
It is truly the quality of a good and patient reader to actually read through a post a leave a meaningful comment, other than follow me, i follow you or the likes.
There is also the trend mentioned by @greenrun where people view a post read and comment and yet the author ignores the comments. That hurts most people's feelings i believe. Because asides from earning their upvote, ignoring their comments can be considered disrespectful. But then, people have various reasons for their actions.

You know the drill ✌️💯

Hello @rickie

Thanks for stopping by. The truth is as our faces are different, so is our behaviors. I have personally experienced that and it felt very bad

@eurogee

Just to add here, I do short comments too :)
This is an example. Hehehe

Me too but depending on the subject of discourse

It's always good to have @greenrun around. I wonder how he moves... No wonder his name.lol

The same way you move, no magic :)

Hello @eurogee.
First of all, I want to appreciate you for sharing such an impressive ideas as this and other knowledge you acquired during the project.
Alot of budding steemians are victims to attribute of a qualitative comments. And I am glad you simplified this. Thank you so much.

Hellon@peterwrites

Thanks for visiting. I appreciate your view so much. GOD BLESS YOU

Hello @eurogee
I'm happy to see you back in shape and blowing bubbles already . I have just learnt something new here and that is the salutation part. And I'm happy that this post has actually reminded me of my manners.
Ever since I learnt the magic of commenting, I have included it in my arsenal of very ruthless weapons dedicated to pulling down walls of limitations on steemit. Just a comment on some one's blog yesterday earned me an Upvote worth over 50 SBD. And I would profer that this is one of the secret of making it on steemit. It's working for me already and I just started. Thank you boss for this re-emphasizing post and also for the mention.

I know you'll be here.....LOL

And you got here before me..... Lols

Hello @edith4angelseu ma'am

You one of the most exemplary commenters I I can think of. Congratulations on your 50sbd which you earned commenting on other people's work. That's a great surprise to have earned that amount.

@eurogee

Thank you boss. A comment on some one's post brought a whole trail to upvote on four of my posts. Those upvotes on the four posts earned me about 50 SBD

Dear @eurogee ,

Honestly? I don't like mentioning your name in my comment at all. Why should I, if I write a response to your post, after all?

Makes no sense for me, and is too formal. Way too formal for an online social media site.

Use your own method, there's really no style set in stone in socialising. I may be wrong here, but I stand to be corrected if there is :)

Yea, I see nothing wrong with it. Comes down to personal style. I will sometimes use a persons tag, and sometimes not. But in essence, you are right. I will go back and look at my posts and respond to the comments. It really doesnt matter either way if someone decides to tag me in them.

I do think that writing thoughtful and constructive comments is very important. A well placed meme can get me to laugh too. :)

It'd be good if you reply the genuine guys that read your blog, not the spammy message of nice, good posts, those don't really deserve a reply :)

I tend to just go right over those comments anyways :D

They are obviously commenting for a potential upvote, or to upvote themselves. At least try to add to the conversation.

That's what I do too, I do not have energy to be entertaining spammy comments :)

Exactly!!! All those Nice post,Interesting post and all sort of comment do piss author off, I think people are becoming too lazy to read and this is having bad effect on some of our people.... We need to see steemit beyond SBD, the earlier we know it is also a ground of learning the helpful itvis

Those guys are just too much in a hurry to read. Reading is getting harder with each passing day. Do you doubt this? Do a simple experiment, write a 1000-word article and insert insane stuffs randomly inside it, send it to people you know. Relax and see how many would get back to you to ask what the heck you mean by the things you inserted. Lol

LOL.... I think you like illustration

Hehehe. This illustration is funny really.

Hahahahahsh. The truth is reading not too easy sometimes. It's better to upvote and go than writing short words

@eurogee

An applause!

You said it all bro. Everybody have different perspective of things. The focus should be the end; making meaningful comments, not the means.

Afterall, it is a social media.

Fullstop. Period. C'est fini!✌️

Hello @eurogee,

I must say sincerley that you have dished out a very sensitive aspect in terms of steemit,the comment aspect is very sensitive and i learnt new things today from this post,Sorry once again for what happened recently the lord will restore you in 100 folds,stay blessed.

Hello @dayjee

Thanks for your concern and the read. I am quite fine now

@eurogee

Hello @katamori

NB: whatever that would be discussed here is not meant to discredit other styles of comment, but to discuss and pass knowledge with respect to a comment Style I find more revealing.

I think you will find Good response in the Above quoted piece. Appreciate your views though

@eurogee

Definitely, I had no problems with your views, I just told mine.

I mean, I just simply would not encourage people to call me on my name on a social media site, because as far as I see, the internet culture works differently.

But then again, no hatred on my behalf.

Hatred? Never meant that. Cheer up
