Random Japan #33 :: Time for Some Lovin'

in #randomjapan6 years ago

Love, exciting and new
Come in. We're expecting you.
Love, life's sweetest reward.
Let it flow, it floats back to you.

A Love Meeting

The above a very slight variation of The Love Boat, if you didn't catch that.

Yes, this is a love hotel. Made for... well you guessed it. These things are everywhere and they are all very tacky looking, often adopting strange themes. Their heyday may have been the '80s when the money was flowing for Japanese society, but they are still profitable enough that you'll find at least a few in most cities.

Just Hanging Around

The wisteria are blooming! Er... were blooming. It was sunny and nice this morning but now it is pouring rain as I type this, so they also, like the cherry blossoms, may not last long this year. Oh well. Lovely flowers. Watch out for the constant bees all around the area, though.

Holy Home

These stone lanterns are common sights at shrines and temples and even at some private homes. Looks like this one is doubling as home to a small wild pig—the zodiac pig no doubt. This year, 2018, is dog year. The last pig year was 11 years ago. Maybe he's been hiding here for the past several years, just waiting his time to shine again! He won't have to wait long—next year is pig year.

You Lookin' at Me?

Same lantern, just viewed from the side. This is suppose to be a moon shaped opening, but I'd say the entire thing looks more like an angry face. You lookin' at me??

Hi thereDavid LaSpina is an American photographer lost in Japan, trying to capture the beauty of this country one photo at a time.
Sort:

you make it. U really capture the beauty . well done

This is random David but I can smell the flowers all the way over here across the sea. Looks great.

Second picture really has that effect!

The wisteria were truly beautiful. I remember coming across a rather large pig shrine in Kyoto. I do remember finding it quite perplexing but it stands out for me:)

pig shrine.... that is probably Goō shrine, famous for the wild boar statues and for being lucky for expecting and young moms. haha that is the great thing about Japan, just wandering around and bumping into the oddest things that you never would have expected.

Took about 8 years for that to work out:)
