Random Japan #19 :: When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth

in #japan6 years ago (edited)

God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs.

I'm not sure where Okazaki got the money to do this, but a few years ago they built these dinosaurs. They are fairly impressive in person. I'm not sure how well they will stand up to the elements over the years, but they have now been here a while and still look pretty good. As you might imagine, kids love this place. In fact, that's why I was here to take this shot: my son asked to come here yesterday.

There are a few places off of I-75 where I have visited similar creations. It seems to me to be entirely possible that dinosaurs are a hoax.

Hoax is the wrong word. I think it is entirely possible that most of what we know about them is wrong. Hoax attributes malice where I think there was none. What we have instead is just over-enthusiastic scientists jumping to conclusions based on incomplete data. There is already a big divide between the latest thinking and what pop culture shows. Current thinking says many of the creatures were feathered, but even today in pop culture that is something you will never see. I suspect as we learn more that model will change yet more.

The Jurassic Park series tastes like intentional disinformation, and smells like part of a larger campaign. Maybe I just want to hate Hollywood.

haha I can understand that. There is much to hate about Hollywood. Most of what we see in the Jurassic Park series is not only false, but doesn't even follow any scientific theory, now or previous. But I don't think the intention was to mislead us. That was/is incidental. The main intention there was just to keep to the dinosaur stereotype that they perceive the public has and to make the most money as possible.

I remember Kaiju on Pacific Rim.

Nice sharing.

haha maybe that is where he picked that name up.

Thanks for the comment :)
