Random Japan #32 :: The Thin Green Line

in #randomjapan6 years ago (edited)

Welcome to today's edition of Random Japan, your look at whatever random thing catches my fancy as I walk around town. Today I thought we'd start with a panorama.

The Thin Green Line

Two interesting things here. First would be that shed that's falling apart and whatever was on the lot next to it which is now junk. The second interesting thing would be that green strip on the street. There are a few color codings used on Japanese roads—at least Japanese roads in this area. Green means elementary school kids walk this route to school and so drivers should be careful. In Japan all elementary school kids are expected to walk to school by themselves, no matter how far away their school may be. Parents are stationed every few blocks so the kids aren't really out of watchful eyes. The green line isn't just to let drivers know to be extra careful, but to let the kids know where they should walk.

Machi Cafe

Here is a bit of Japlish that is pretty good. This place is just the sitting area of a convenience store. I guess they want to sound fancy. Maybe as a way of attracting more people?

Crossing Over

Just a crosswalk. I am always taking shots of these. They make for interesting minimalistic monochrome photos.

That's all for today. Any favorites? Be sure to come back tomorrow for another edition of Random Japan
