Plastic Ideals...and more! 📚
"Plastic Ideals"
Bells ring out in the distance
Chiming to a regal tune
Scribes hollar at widgets
Divined to keep them true
But listening to sermons
From puppets and yeomen
Reveal worms and yearnings
And the preachers are nervous
Of the thoughts of which they speak
Because at least the practice
Has brought them to seek
Sermons of plastic, while
Ideals ring out in the distance

Nice poem. To me, it makes me think of how we all must be cautious with our thoughts and actions with regard to our ideals. It is easy for us to fall into a rut where we are simply going through the motions instead of listening to the truth and intent upon which our ideals were founded...lest we become that which we rail against. Thanks for sharing this thought-provoking poem.
Thank you for commenting @moeknows! If you think real hard, the ending (the 14th line) should be "cease". OX Hope you have a wonderful day!
