The house at the end of the street - Chapter 24 - Original fiction (Previous chapters at the end of post)
Daphne looked absolutely lovely in the peach colored dress she brought along for the wedding, and Sarah couldn't believe how much she looked like Amelia. It was an older version, but they had the same facial features. Sarah looked amazing in her dress and she was glad that it was still early in her pregnancy and that no one would notice. Jack was going to walk Sarah down the isle and if Rich was alive she probably would've forced him to do it. Even if he was in a wheelchair and she laughed at the thought.
She was happy, and she knew that they were going to be forever happy together in this house. Daphne handed her the bouquet. Sarah took it carefully and smiled when she looked at the lovely flowers. They were lily of the valley, as it was her mother's favorite flowers, once upon a time in a previous lifetime.
It was already getting dark outside and when Sarah and Daphne stood at the top of the stairs they could see how beautiful everything looked. Candles were lit everywhere and it created a very romantic atmosphere. The groom and Jack were talking to the minister when the violin started playing and then suddenly Matt saw her coming down the stairs. She absolutely took his breath away. Her hair was pinned up in curls and there were small flowers everywhere in her hair. The dress fit her perfectly.
Jack met her at the bottom of the stairs and it was one of the proudest moments of his life when he handed her over to his dad.
Sarah looked serene and moved gracefully from Jack's arm to Matt's arm. The man who was about to become her husband. They stood in front of the minister, exchanged their vows in clear voices, and in minutes it was all over. Matt kissed the bride and the music started playing again.
There were very few guests as they wanted to keep it intimate but when they turned around they could see the delight in everyone's faces. Everyone from their offices were there and they were all happy for Sarah.
Jack stood proudly next to his dad, and he felt as if he had gained a whole new family. Everyone moved over to the dining room for an early dinner, and they partied and danced till midnight. Sarah even had a little bit of champagne not to make everyone suspicious. They used the library as a dance floor and everyone was overjoyed when she threw the bouquet and it was caught by her secretary, who had been going out with one of the young lawyers at the office.
Everyone left just before one o'clock and they finally got to bed at two o'clock in the morning. Matt picked her up in his arms in front of their bedroom door and he carried her over to their bed. Mr and Mrs Laricy spent their first night together as husband and wife.
Just before they fell asleep Sarah turned to Matt and said: "I've made up my mind. We can keep the baby." Matt leaned forward and kissed her gently on the lips.
" Thank you Sarah. I am now officially the luckiest man on earth."
Jack and Daphne were booked on a flight for the next afternoon at four o'clock. They all slept a bit later than usual the next morning and had brunch just after eleven o'clock. Sarah and Matt decided to tell them about the baby during brunch, and both Jack and Daphne was extremely happy for them. For the first time since they found out about the baby Sarah seemed a little bit excited.
Just after three o' clock Matt loaded the car and they were off to the airport. There were so many suitcases in the car that there was hardly place for everyone to sit.
They dropped Jack and Daphne off at the gate and they watched while they walked down the corridor towards the plane. Sarah felt sad to see both of them go, but she knew that they would be back soon.
"Come on Mrs Laricy, don't just stand there, we're going to miss it!"
"What are you talking about Mr Laricy... late for what?"
"We're going to miss our plane silly!" Matt laughed and pulled her closer to him.
"Plane? Which plane are you talking about?"
"You didn't think that we were not going to have a honeymoon Mrs Laricy did you?"
"Oh Matt I can't believe this! I didn't pack anything!"
"Oh yes you did, Daphne packed for you. Didn't you wonder why the car was so overloaded with suitcases?"
Sarah laughed and couldn't believe how lucky she was.
