The house at the end of the street - Chapter 22 - Original fiction (Previous chapters at the end of post)
Matt was up early the next morning and Sarah looked so peaceful he decided to let her sleep. It was the first time during the last week that she slept through the night. Matt quickly took a shower and then checked on Sarah before he left for the airport. He decided to phone Sarah from the airport once he picked up Jack. He wanted to take them out for breakfast before they took Jack home.
Sarah woke up about half an hour after Matt left, and she realized that he had left to fetch Jack. She felt a little annoyed that he had left her, but then brushed the feeling aside. She knew that the pregnancy was tampering with her judgement and she wanted to be on her best behavior when Jack came home. She took the prescription tablets and then took a long shower. She was so lost in her thoughts that she did not hear the phone ring.
She couldn't even imagine being pregnant. It was such a weird feeling and she could still not get her head around this.
"How am I going to do this alone?" She thought to herself. She had no one to ask for any guidance and her Aunt Daphne never had kids.
She was all alone in this...but perhaps it wouldn't be so bad...Matt already had one kid, so maybe this would all just work out. She decided to stop thinking about it and to give it a few days before she made any irrational decisions.
While she stood in the bedroom drying her hair, her cellphone rang again. It was Matt informing her that they were on their way to pick her up. He sounded happy and she could hear the excitement in his voice. She told him that she would be ready in ten minutes and that she would meet them outside. She finished dressing and then quickly checked on Jack's room.
It was the perfect room for a teenager. He had his own television and she bought him a game console that he could use when he visited. She closed the door behind her and then went downstairs to meet them outside.
Jack surprised Sarah with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and he was delighted to meet her. The clicked immediately and they made jokes all the while through breakfast. It was still early days and Sarah and Matt decided the previous night that they would not tell anyone about the baby until after the wedding.
Daphne would be arriving the next weekend for thanksgiving and would stay until after the wedding. Matt and Sarah took Jack shopping and Sarah bought them identical suits for the wedding. They were very excited and she laughed when they came out of the dressing room and looked like twins. Jack was basically a carbon copy of Matt, and it suddenly made her wonder what their baby would look like.
Sarah had fallen in love with Jack the second she laid eyes on him, and she knew that she would never be the typical stepmom. They quickly formed a bond and even teamed up against Matt when he suggested a restaurant for lunch. Jack and Sarah won the fight and they went to Sarah's favorite Chinese restaurant. They had a great lunch and then it was finally time to take Jack to the house.
Jack couldn't believe the size of the house and he was out of his skin about his room. He absolutely loved it and ran over to Sarah to hug her.
No one would ever be able to say that she only met Jack today, and she was looking forward to spend more time with Jack on the weekends that he came to visit. Jack suggested that they take a walk outside so that he could see the rest of the neighborhood and Sarah realized that they actually never have had the time to actually explore the area. Matt closed the door and they walked down the stairs. Jack closed the gate behind them and they walked around the block waving at the neighbors that they had never met, and they looked like the perfect little family.

You continue to amaze me with your multi-tasking ability. Despite having to do so much, you never fail to put out quality work and effort. I can't imagine how you even get out of bed with each day filled with do many things to do. And yet you do it. It must be your passion for your family, your students, your friends, your drive to educate everyone and just plain caring. I admire you for all this and more.
I can understand your passion to help because you honestly care. Although I don't have a quarter of your energy I do have that drive to educate people about areas that aren't often taught about. I guess you can say you are a motivating factor for me.
I love your story and how it is evolving. You do have a way with words and an understanding of people's nature. Thank-you for sharing your wonderful story with us. Oh Rich please dont spoil the story it is so nice, what is wrong with you, You say you are sick, is that really or just a way of changing the story. You have to start on a new one as well. This story of giantbear is really unbelievable nice, and I truly love it. I would have loved to be able to write like her, but that will never happen.
