Sarah phoned her aunt immediately.  She was her only living relative and the only person that she could contact with the delightful news. Sarah's aunt was delighted for her and promised that she would help with all the arrangements. She promised that she would fly down to help Sarah look for a dress that weekend.

Sarah was absolutely ecstatic.  They both decided that they wanted to get married as soon as possible. They were clearly able and old enough to make their own decisions and they decided on a date just before Christmas. Sarah was supposed to start work just after Christmas and wanted to complete all the arrangements before going back to work.

"Wow" Sarah said as she suddenly thought of it. "We literally only have four weeks to plan the wedding." I will call the caterer in the morning and everyone else that we want to invite."

They wanted to keep it intimate and did not have to send out invitations. It was nothing much to organize but Sarah wanted her special day. They wanted to keep everything as simple as possible.  They chatted about the wedding for the next two hours before packing the last boxes and carrying it to his car downstairs.  The rest of the boxes were left and would be donated to charity.

On the drive home, Sarah had a wonderful idea.  "What if we get married in the house...would there be enough time to get everything ready?"

"Well if we do some painting ourselves and push the contractors a bit then it might just be possible..." Matt said and smiled at the idea. Matt wanted to fly to San Francisco that weekend to go and talk to his son about the wedding and it worked out perfectly because Sarah's aunt was coming to help her search for her dress.

The week flew by and before they could imagine it was time for Sarah to drop off Matt at the airport. The minute he was gone Sarah felt lonely and missed him already, but she was excited about her aunt coming to visit and she didn't have to wait long for her plane to land.

Sarah cried when she saw her aunt for the first time in four years.  It was sad that her parents would not be at her wedding but at least she had Aunt Daphne here with her that could take her mother's place.  They left the airport in Matt's car and Sarah drove straight to the Glamor closet in Rush street.  She was just too excited to wait another day and the saleslady helped her to choose three wedding dresses to fit.

Her aunt was treated like a queen and enjoyed all the attention. She sat on the couch with a glass of champagne and nearly died laughing when Sarah came out of the fitting room with a white dress with feathers on and she told Sarah that she looked like an overgrown chicken.

Sarah wanted something simple and plain and she finally chose an off-white dress as she felt odd getting married in a white dress at her age.  They arranged for the alterations to be made and she made an appointment for a final fitting one week from now.

She took her aunt out for lunch and picked up a few things at the shop before driving home.  She had bought furniture that week especially for her guestroom and the room was freshly painted in a light pink. During the last week they had done quite a lot at the house and Sarah was terribly excited to show her aunt the house that she bought. As they drove down the street towards the house her aunt became very quiet.

"This is so beautiful Sarah...I haven't been here in so many years but everything looks so familiar."    She became very quiet when they parked in front of the house.

"This is your house?" Sarah laughed and told her about the money that Rich left her and exactly what happened.

She didn't see that her aunt was actually in shock and that she started crying.  Sarah didn't know what was wrong and she couldn't decide if it was sadness or happiness...

"Daphne what's going on, why are you crying?  Did I say something wrong?"

Daphne looked at her with tears streaming down her face.

"I know this house Sarah.  I just never thought that I would see it again. " She wiped the tears with a tissue that Sarah handed her.  "Your great grandmother.... she grew up right here in this house."

Sarah was totally stunned.  "I think you better come inside and tell me the whole story Daphne."  Sarah unlocked the door with shaking hands and they walked inside.
