So, Facebook's gonna have its own crypto in 2020: Globalcoin
Source
Obviously, the giant wants to get its hands on the world of cryptocurrencies too. It was to be expected, as we all know blockchain and cryptos are a disruptive technology that promises to be digital economic means for a digital world.
Not only it will create its own currency, but it will also give its users (all the people who use Facebook, I mean us) the opportunity to exchange dollars and other cryptocurrencies in exchange for its GlobalCoin.
The idea of the giant is to have the possibility of using this mechanism to establish a digital payment system so that its users can carry out purchase/sale/exchange operations and other transactions without the need for even having to create or have a bank account.
It will also allow Whatsapp to send/receive money between its users (that would be great, although a little scary if someone steals your cell phone) and will also be used to encourage users to see advertising for an economic incentive paid through this cryptocurrency.
I suppose this monster is serious and will surely shake platforms like Paypal, Transferwise and other money exchange.
Of course, creating a secure and non-volatile cryptocurrency is a very difficult task and sure thing that will have to comply with a number of international regulations and statutes to be able to put in motion this crypto. However, we know it is Facebook. It is not just any company.
I wonder... It will pose a threat to social networks like Steemit, Whaleshares, Publishx0? What do you think?
Keep spreading the Steemit love

I believe that it can only be helpful to bring more people to cryptos. Facebook will encourage its users to send and recieve coins. Later people will start to exchange these coins for others. I think that the percentage of people using cryptos is still very small. Imagine if all facebook users suddenly start to get interested in them..

It'd be great! As long as they don't kill Steemit
Hey! Why didn't you post anymore?
Btw, I'm glad you took the time to stop by
Hi,
I will post soon I believe. I had a nasty virus that affected my family and me and for more than a week, we were all on "ill and sick" mode ;-).
Best regards,
Achim
Oh dear!
Drink boiled water. Not cold but room temperature.
Drinking plenty of fluids is important to get rid of the virus and excess medicines so that healthy organs do not get sick from the side effects of the medications.
Get better soon (all of you), my friend
Thanks a lot for the reply and the tipps. Fortunately we are much better already :-)
Hi @jadams2k18
I only had a chance to read your post now. I must admit that I found it interesting to witness what huge giants (like facebook) do in nearest future. Those companies were so openly hostile towards crypto just a while ago.
I wonder if introducing their own GlobalCoin can really change much for them. Facebook lost their users trust. Few times to many. And this is the core of their problems.
Except that sending funds via facebook will leave so many more traces of all your payments. And everyone need to be aware that facebook will be analyzing those transfers and collecting data.
Great choice of topic buddy
Piotr
So FB did or did not institute Globalcoin? https://www.globalcoin.info/
It says it began trading in 2013. Sure seems like FB wants to compete directly with IBM's World Wire.
Millionaires will always become more millionaires.
I guess, from Facebook's point of view, the crypto sphere will be seen as:
Good one @jadams2k18 :)

I heard about it. Looks as if they all will. Google, WhatsApp etc. I wonder where it will end.

It will end in all of us accepting cryptocurrencies as a monetary system, as they say in sci-fi movies.
Facebook will certainly shake things up but they have a lot of clutter the inhibits their transition.
We'll see how it turns out for them. I'm sure they don't enter the game without having an ace up their sleeve.
The dealer does not need an ace- come to think about :/
From that point of view, you're right and it's scary.
