May 30 Days Writing Challenge - Day Twelve: What Crypto Asset Will Dominate The Market In 5 Years?

This is the twelfth day of the May 30 days writing challenge proposed by @dragosroua. And here's my answer to today's question.

There are several aspects taking me to believe Bitcoin will be still the dominant cryptocurrency five years from now. If we think in terms of crypto technical capabilities of Bitcoin compared to other cryptos it is clear there are coins with much better performance in terms of speed and transaction cost, Steem being one of those. On the other side, cryptos like Dash, Monero or Pivx do a much better job in terms of privacy. Finally, there will be newcomers with the lessons learned from past failures which will bring better performance and will add new features we can not even think of right now. But all those differences are based only on a crypto world comparison. I have the clear convincement that when mass adoption comes, traditional economy and markets will have a big influence to make Bitcoin remain as the most dominant crypto asset, here are some of the reasons:

• It has the biggest market cap and the second player is still far away from it.
• It is the crypto reference of the markets. All exchanges mainly use Bitcoin as a reference on their platforms, consolidating it as the dominant in the market.
• Investing institutions, much more conservative than any other crypto related organizations, get Bitcoin as the first asset in their portfolio.
• The Bitcoin Futures Contracts where the first to appear in the scene.
• It gets by far, most of the traditional media coverage, and that is a huge advantage for mass adoption.
