May 30 Days Writing Challenge - Day Eleven: What’s More Important For Steemit Right Now: Smart Media Tokens or Hivemind?
This is the eleventh day of the May 30 days writing challenge proposed by @dragosroua. And here's my answer to today's question.
I can not just decide between either one as they are both critical to me.
Improving the user experience is critical for mass adoption. Steem is a great decentralized social media platform. There are huge advantages this project has compared to traditional centralized competitors but there is a vast majority of potential users out there which have a huge barrier to enter, just because they are used to easier platforms and do not want to learn about a bumpy new one. Offering the tools to create third party "windows", will speed up growth and the media coverage needed for adoption.
On the other hand, Smart Media Tokens opens an impressive improvement compared to traditional competitors; a new customizable tool to add economy to the platform. To me, that is a key differentiation which will develop new business models on top of Steem and will create authentic new surprises to the platform. To give you an example, imagine a TV series connecting to its audience in Steem and launching an SMT to crowdfund the new season.
I just can not decide between one or another. I want them both!
