History of the Porsche 718
The Porsche 718 is a competition spyders built between 1957 and 1962. In 1960, in order to fullfil new FIA regulation, Porsche introduced the final evolution of its spyder, the RS 60 with a wider cockpit and a larger engine than its predecessor the 718 RSK. Karrosserie Wendler designed the coachwork with framed windscreen and luggage plattform (FIA's rule).
18 examples were built, only 4 cars was retained by Porsche for its tests with extra-features like torsion bars... The car was designed for long races as Le Mans and the Targa Florio*. Huge successes on tracks. This example started its career at 1960 Le Mans and was leading the 2 liter class when a gasket blown during the 18th hour. It returned to action only in 1961 during the 12 Hours of Sebring then during the 1961 Targa Florio with Graham Hill and Stirling Moss behind the wheel.

The Porsche 718 RS 60 has a 1,678 cc Type 719/4 engine.
The car was fully restored in 2015 by the Porsche experts Urs Gretener and Paul Willison. Beautifully done...
