This prototype is simply called Vivo AR Glass and equipped with two transparent screens. It allows for 6 degrees of freedom. In other words, the integrated sensors are capable of managing all head movements... But also your movements in space.

However, these glasses are not stand-alone, they need to be connected by cable to a smartphone. But they will not be compatible with any device: they will have to be used with Vivo's future 5G model, which will be shown during the week, during the show.

Available before the end of the year?

The Chinese manufacturer explains that the glasses will be used in five different situations:

  • video games
  • office work
  • facial recognition
  • object recognition
  • "5G theatre" without anyone knowing exactly what they are.

A video shows users playing games at the dinner table, getting told an acquaintance’s name, and sitting on their sofa surrounded by virtual jellyfish.

For now, Vivo has not released any pricing or marketing date, but as an indication, the 5G smartphone on which it is based will be available in the third quarter of 2019.
