The company will open its third Uber Elevate conference on June 11, a program whose objective is to develop a shared service of electric aerial vehicles to relieve congestion in urban centres.

Regulators, parliamentarians, government officials, industrialists, investors... Uber invited the American Gotha to take part in a rather special conference on June 11 and 12.
It is dedicated to Uber Elevate, a programme dedicated to the future of urban carpooling, the idea being to relieve congestion in dense centres. And for the company, this necessarily means developing a shared service of flying taxis called Uber Air.
Electric aerial vehicles will carry passengers over major cities.
Which city will be selected as the launch site?
It is not the only one in the ranks: Airbus, Ehang or E-volo pursue the same objective. But this conference is a demonstration of strength that is unparalleled among its competitors.
The first edition was held in 2017 in Dallas, the second in 2018 in Los Angeles. This year it is taking place in Washington, a stone's throw from the White House and Congress, at the heart of American political power.
It must be said that Uber has an interest in convincing everyone of the usefulness of its project, which will require an evolution of aviation regulations. It must also reassure parliamentarians of its ability to ensure the safety of such devices and to have them accepted by the population.
Several announcements are expected during these days, including the name of the country that will host Uber Air's third international launch market ground. France, Japan, Australia, Brazil and India remain in the running.
As for the rest, we already know that Dallas and Los Angeles are the first cities selected. They will host demonstration flights in 2020 for a commercial launch in 2023.
