In the midst of a political scandal, Huawei tries to reassure its customers at all costs. To defend its reputation, the brand has launched a website on which it denies certain rumours that can be read about Huawei in recent days.

To the statement "The P30 and P30 Pro will not have Android Q", Huawei unveils a list of 17 smartphones eligible for the future update of Google despite the ban.

A mysterious deployment

Officially, Huawei is no longer expected to benefit from Android updates. Now, it is possible that the brand will take advantage of its status as a privileged partner of Google to bypass the ban, as a member of the beta program.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is already compatible with Android Q and should benefit from the update (in addition to EMUI 10) from its launch this summer.

Here is the list published by the company, which does not include Honor's smartphones:

  • P30 Pro
  • P30
  • P30 Lite
  • Mate 20 Pro
  • Mate 20
  • Mate 20 Lite
  • Mate 20 RS PORSCHE DESIGN
  • P smart 2019
  • P smart+ 2019
  • P smart Z
  • P20 Pro
  • P20
  • Mate 10 Pro
  • Mate 10
  • Mate 10 PORSCHE DESIGN
  • Mate 20 X X
  • Mate 20 X (5G)

This is wat they say:
At Huawei, we always put our consumers first, regardless of the challenges we face.

All Huawei smartphones, tablets and PCs will continue to receive security patches, Android updates and Microsoft support.

Anyone who has already bought, or is about to buy a Huawei smartphone, can continue to access the world of apps as they have always done. All devices continue to be covered by our manufacturer’s warranty and will receive full service support accordingly.

Our most popular current devices, including the P30 series, will be able to access Android Q. In fact, we have already launched a beta developer programme for Android Q which is running right now on our Mate 20 Pro device.

Technically, it is always possible that Google may refuse Huawei's update requests. It is hard to imagine the Chinese brand communicating on devices that will ultimately be deprived of Android Q.

If you are the owner of one of these mobiles, there is reason to hope for good news.
