Yesterday I spoke about the first 3 secrets of the hacker, here are the next 4!

4. A pirate often ends up being spotted

You probably know the famous hacker groups such as Anonymous and Lulzsec. Regardless of their goals and influence, they get caught one by one. Also take the slightly older case of piracy of the Sony Playstation Network, the person responsible for the attack was also quickly found.

The discovery of the NSA (National Security Agency) spy network proves that we can be spied on everywhere without our knowledge. The larger companies have agreed to provide the NSA with the information it would like to seek, if necessary.

Hacking into a system or user is risky, you take this risk by performing malicious actions regardless of your country. So you don't stand up to the sophisticated stratagems of the "cyber police", don't play the superheroes or assume the consequences.

In addition, Facebook, Google and Microsoft pay hackers to find and report vulnerabilities in their systems. Isn't making money by "legally hacking" a better idea?

5. The rift is YOU

Successful piracy is often based on deception. Remember the famous phishing e-mails telling you that you won the lottery, or websites congratulating you on being the 1,000,000th visitor. These methods are now well known, but the principle has remained the same and many people still click on links and download programs out of fear or lack of knowledge.

Why out of fear? For example, windows very similar to Windows windows (among others) appear informing you that your computer contains viruses. The people behind these traps then propose all-in-one solutions to remove these virtual viruses. By downloading their antivirus, you get hacked and you don't even realize it, you're just happy because all the viruses on your computer will have miraculously disappeared by then.

These techniques come from what is called "social engineering", one of the most popular ways to hack into you. It is about exploiting weaknesses in human behaviour, based on psychological concepts.

Another point is that smartphones, public computers and even televisions are tools that use computers and can be hacked. New means of communication also provide new opportunities for malware creators.

Even with all these warnings, it is not a question of becoming paranoid either, but just suspicious. By being aware of the threats, habits and techniques of hackers, you will be able to analyze the dangers and avoid many scams and problems.

6. The antivirus does not always sound the alarm

From the moment your antivirus rings, it means that a virus has been found and has not been executed. (Same thing for a malicious website). This means that your antivirus does a good job, but it does not certify that there are no other viruses on the computer. Another malicious program may well have been running unobtrusively on the PC for months without being detected. Nor does it certify that the detected program has never been executed before.

This is possible because malware can be encrypted to make it undetectable by antivirus software. It is also possible to find the virus signature by hand and change it without altering the operation of the program.

Most of the time, the hacker will make sure to make his program undetectable before sending it, which makes antivirus software useless. And even if in the long run the antivirus eventually detects the virus, it is often *too late. The antivirus does not always launch the alert.

So don't rely blindly on your antivirus when downloading any program because you won't necessarily be 100% protected. Also remember that phishing sites are not detected, they seem totally legitimate and no one can know what is going on "behind".

Learn why antiviruses are not your friends.

7 You don't need a diploma to become good

Whether in hacking, programming or computer science in general, there are far too many people who do not take action because they do not think they will succeed. They are waiting to graduate or reach a certain age. Others, on the other hand, think they are too "old" or too lost in IT. Worse still, some suggest that there would be a certain gift to possess.

I must reassure you on this subject: you don't have to wait for anything, and there is no age limit to learn. The best thing you can do to become good is to start today.

You will make mistakes, you may make bad choices, but it will help you to take charge of this new field and improve yourself. You can learn from scratch, it works and it just takes time. If time is not a resource you want to allocate, you can accelerate your learning by following a learning plan.
