Frightmare Mansion - Chapter 27 - Trapped

Mom slams the shutters closed – quickly locking them. She grabs and pulls me back towards the door. We're looking at each other trembling, hoping and praying there is no way that thing can get in. Then we hear it scratching at the shutters. There is a sickening gurgling sound – almost like it's trying to talk!

It sounded like some kind of Hellspawn baby! Suddenly the door slams shut behind us, like something wanting to keep us trapped here.
"We have to get out of here!" I scream.
I grab the doorknob desperately trying to turn it.
“I can’t open it! It seems to be locked!”

Mom tries too, but with no luck! She bangs on the door hoping little Kylie can hear her.
"Kylie! Kylie Open the door! Kylie!"
I know I make fun of her a lot, but right now, I’d give anything to see Kylie open the door. I would even kiss her stinky toes – anything, just get us out of here!

Then something rips the shutters open – this unseen force wants this thing to get us! The moonlight highlights the slimy wet body of this thing. Oh God, it’s just sitting there on the window ledge. The piercing unholy eyes are just staring at us. Mom picks up the fireplace poker again ready to beat the crap out of it.

This abomination drops to the floor and slowly starts to crawl towards us! It leaves a trail of goo like a snail. The spindly tree branch like extremities pushes its weird body along. The large head wobbles about like a Bobble Head. Some pinkish drool dangles from the withered lips. The mouth opens wide baring a set of sharp yellowish teeth. A blood-curdling shrill pierces our ears.

Mom darts forward to protect her cub – I'm talking about me! She swings aggressively at it – striking the large head – what sounded like bone cracking - echos through the bedroom. Mom continues to whack away at it until it stops moving.
“Is it dead?” I ask.
“I think so.” Pocking at it and moving the lifeless limbs around.

Suddenly the door swings opens – it's Kylie holding baby brother Justin's hand.
"Mom, what's going on in here?"
