Frightmare Mansion - Chapter 16 - Nightmare

I start to have this weird feeling, like a sense of dread coming on, then suddenly I feel a presence like there's something in the room with me, something evil, and I have no idea what it is! My breathing becomes more rapid, I'm flooded with a deep anguish, I want to get up and look, but I can’t move, I'm paralyzed! It must be that small creature Lila made a drawing of!

I feel it tugging on my blanket - now it's climbing up on my bed. My heart is pounding so hard that it feels like it's going to pop out of my chest. I peek over my blanket at the foot of my bed, the top of a slimy looking head appears. I can't be dreaming, because this thing is so vivid. I can't even scream!

It's greyish-green in color, with veins branching over the top of its egg-shaped head, highlighted by the night light behind it. Not much more than a silhouette. It wobbles like a newborn as it craws towards me! My throat tightens as I try to scream for Mom, but only a slurred unrecogizable sound comes out- suddenly my frighted scream breaks out! Mom burst into the room and turns on the light. I spring up crying hysterically. I look about frantically looking for that thing!

"Skylar, what's wrong! Are you alright!"
Mom sits on the bed and holds me while I cry uncontrollably.
"I am so afraid! I feel like I'm only three years old right now, so helpless."

"Did you have a nightmare?"
"I don’t know, it seemed so real. I was awake but couldn't move! Mom it was horrible!"
"Sometimes a nightmare can seem so real, you can’t tell the difference from reality."
"I don’t think I can go back to sleep, I’m afraid that thing might come back!"
"Thing?"
"Yeah, it's small and so ugly - It kept getting closer and closer!" Crawling from the safety of my bed to pull out the drawing from the bottom drawer. "This is what I saw!"
Mom's brows arch up trying not to look shocked.
"That's what was crawling up on my bed Mom!"
"You drew this?"
"Lila did."
"Lila?"

"The girl that lived here remember? I found it with these others dumping out the rest of the grotesque drawings.
Mom starts to sort through them, "My God, these are horrible. You know there is no such thing, right?"
Right now I don't know, I am so scared, it seemed like the whole thing happened while I was awake, except I couldn't move. I never had anything like this happen to me before, I don't think can go back to sleep!"
Kylie and Justin appear at the bedroom door.

"What's going on? Why did Skylar scream?" Kylie rubbing her eyes as she enters the room, Justin is hanging on to her pajama pants leg with a frightened look on his face.
"Mommy I'm scared!" Justin jumps onto the bed and hangs on to her, she tries to comfort him with a tender hug.
"Okay- okay Skylar just had a nightmare, that's all, like she has had before. Justin will stay with Kylie tonight -"

Kylie cringes her face, "Oh Mom, why can't he sleep in his own room, he wiggles around too much. And the worst thing he does is lay those awful stinky farts all night!"
Mom gives her a stern look, "Just do it, let's work together here. Now off to bed you two!"
"Horsey ride!" Justin screams.
Kylie shaking her head no, "Oh my God, Mom he's got two legs -"
"Kylie!" Mom very stern.
Kylie reluctantly turns around, so Justin can climb on her back for his horsey ride to her room.
"Gettie up!" Justin shouts.

"This is so degrading," Kylie moans leaving the room with Justin piggy-backed on her.
They looked like those chimps I saw the other night on National Geographic. Then I notice Justin's legs almost dragging on the floor. Oh come on girl, Justin's going to outgrow her. Okay, that was a good distraction from my current scary reality.

"Mom what am I going to do? I'm so damed scared right now!" rubbing my tears away.
"I tell you what, you can sleep with me tonight okay, just like when you were a little girl who's had a bad dream. And tomorrow, everything will be alright, now let’s get some sleep honey."
I don't even care she's talking to me like I'm three, I just don't want to be alone!
