Frightmare Mansion - Chapter 13

Suddenly something falls in the main entrance near the living room.
"What was that?" Mom asks.
Quickly wiping my hands with a kitchen towel, " Probably Justin messing around out there. I'll check it out. I enter the living room to find him standing there staring at something. "Alright dummy, what did you knock over?"
His eyes are large and his little mouth is wide open. It's like he's trying to talk, but nothing is coming out. I've never seen him like that, "Justin what's wrong?"
He points at the wall, I turn to catch a glimpse of a shadow moving towards the hallway. I suck in a gasp as it disappears into the darkness. "What was that? Mom!! Mom!!"

She hurridly comes from the kitchen, "What's wrong?"
I saw a shadow! It went into the hallway!"
"A shadow?"

"That's what it looked like!" She goes over to the hallway to check it out. She flips the hall light on. Looking about, she finds nothing.
"I swear, when I came in, Justin looked like he was in shock or something. Look at him, his eyes are all bugged out. You know normally he's always jabbering - you can't shut him up."
Mom looks concerned, she gives him a protective hug, "Are you okay honey?"
He just points to the hallway. Just then a car passes by and the head lights cast the shadow of a tree trunk onto the wall. The shadow moves across the wall towards the hallway before disappearing. Similar to what we saw, but without the headlights.

"You see honey what you saw was just a shadow of that tree in the front yard."
"The coat rack is knocked over, how did a shadow do that?" my eyes shifting over to Mom.
No answer comes out of her. She takes his hand, "Come on it's time for your nap, I'll take you to Kylie's room."
"But mom -" She gives me a look - oh I get it, she doesn't want Justin to be scared.

I know what I saw, and it was no shadow of a tree, that's for darn sure.
She had no logical reason for this rack to fall over by itself. I stand the rack back up, a chill runs down my back. Kind of like I felt when we first got here. It feels like someone is watching me. I shake it off and head back to the kitchen.

Around 20 minutes later I pull the pizza out. I wonder why it's taking Mom so long to tuck in the shrimp. Oh this pizza looks so yummy. The delicious aroma fills this creepy old Mansion. I serve up the pizza in the large dinning room along with a 2 - liter bottle of soda. Mom and Kylie enter as I'm opening the bottle.
"Justin's asleep, I gave him Benadryl. We'll just save his piece for him." Mom says concerned.
"So you had to drug the little twerp," sarcasticaly as I serve the soda into glasses.
"What the heck is wrong with Justin anyway?" Kylie nibbling on her piece of pizza.
"We saw a ghost."
Moms eyes dart at me.
"Awesome!"Kylie excited.
Mom looks a bit surprised by Kylie's reaction.
"Now we'll be able to charge more for a real haunted house! I better change my ad!" Kylie thrilled.
