Frightmare Mansion - Chapter 17 - Haunted shower

The next morning, I drag myself into the bathroom and exhaustedly lean on the sink counter. I didn't get much sleep last night just thinking about that horrible nightmare I had. It continues to run over and over through my mind, it's nearly impossible to shut off. That evil little creature looked so frightening. I glance over at the toilet bowl, "Oh my God!"
With my head sticking out from the bathroom, "Alright, who didn't flush?!"

Justin runs down the hallway and right past me and flushes, "My bad!" and runs back out.
"What a pig!" I scream and slam the door shut. That thing looked like a King Cobra snake coiled up in there. My God how did all of that come out of that little twerp?!

Facing the mirror and thinking how terrible I look. My first date with Chris and I feel and look like crap! Oh my God, are those eye bags?! I hope it's just the lighting in here. It almost looks like I've got a mustache too with all of the weird shadows in here. I unbutton my pyjamas, dropping them to the floor. I stand here naked checking myself out. I look so bloated! I turn sideways examining myself. I'm being punished for making fun of Justin's pot belly, I just know it.

Turning the old antique knobs on the shower faucet, the noisy pipes rattle until the water sputters and eventually sprays out. I whip aside the curtain and step into the shower. Then adjust the shower head and close the curtain behind me. The very first thing I do is immediately dip my head under the water spray to wash away the brain cobwebs. Turning around, wow, the water feels so good running down my back.

I begin thinking about Chris and how sexy he looked mowing the lawn for us yesterday. I can so easily see us together, I just want to be in his arms. One thing about being a creative artistic person, I can visualize stuff so easily and clearly, almost like watching a movie.

Suddenly through the shower curtain, I catch a glimpse of a figure passing by. It was way too tall to be Justin or Kylie, "Mom?" a few seconds drag by with no answer. Mom would have knocked, did I lock the door right? I must have, how can anyone be in here with me? But maybe the lock doesn't work - this house is so old it's amazing anything works right in the first place.

"Who's there?" Still waiting for an answer that doesn't come. Goose bumps cover my body when I hear a man clear his throat. My heart starts racing. Okay I clearly heard that, that was not my imagination! How could there possibly be a strange man is in the bathroom with me! I wait in terror for the figure to re-appear again, almost a minute passes by, there is nothing. Could whoever it was, just left?

I want to feel relieved, at least for the second - suddenly there it is again, just standing there! There is absolutely no mistake about it, there is somebody standing there! Now I can hear their heavy breathing, with a slight echo to it, like someone breathing into a metal pail. It gets louder as it moves closer to the curtain. I'm absolutely shaking with fear, then like some Alfred Hitchcock movie, I back away from the curtain as the shadow reaches for the curtain to rip it open- I start screaming!

Fantastic post magik4283, you have a new follower/fan. I would love to hear your thoughts on my first short story. It falls into a similar genre, perhaps leaning slightly more towards si-fi than horror, nevertheless suspense is key for both. Anyway, I look forward to reading more... djr420 steeming on
