Begin With The End. Day 20 of the Total Writer Transformation

in #writing6 years ago

This is the end, my only friend. The end. Of everything that stands. The end.

Writing is an emotional endeavor. We show our hearts on our sleeves and open ourselves in a most vulnerable manner. The act of writing is filled with high highs and low lows. When the mental anguish and psychological brooding gets overwhelming it's time to contemplate a change in mental scenery. Remember that you are the creator, and as such you should be enjoying your work. Don't take it too seriously. Writing is, after all, simply a transcription of your daydreams.

You must write every day- I cannot stress that enough. Commit to 10 minutes a day and set a timer to keep you honest. But we all get mentally blocked or our brain gets lazy sometimes. If you're stuck don't know where to begin, try starting with the ending.

Today's Challenge

Begin with the End.

Imagine the most melancholy ending. Or the most viciously disturbing. And write it like your readers already know the character and are deeply invested in him/her. Describe it with such detail that you invoke a great emotional response. Make it powerful and provoking.

Writing about the end of your story will give your perspective a tweak, basically turning on an unused light from the opposite end of the room.

Hello! It's a pleasure meeting you! Thanks for stopping by, I'll be heading over to your neighborhood soon 🙃 so get the coffee on ;)

What a neat series! Somehow I’ve missed it until you are 2/3 if the way through it. I hope it is helping a lot of people to improve their approach to writing!

Thr beauty of this is you can do them all, or you can choose the ones you need a la carte fashion ;)

That’s so smart! We all have different things we need to work on and improve.

Most of the stories that I write start from the end. I find that it is a nice exercise to simply create. If I want to change the ending later, then so be it, but I have the whole idea in my mind and everything just flows.

I love writing every day. I write almost every day, and for way more than just 10 minutes. I don't force myself. If one day I don't want to write, I just don't, but I usually do want to write.

I haven't done any fiction lately. In fact, I have been stuck with the vision that you said, daydreams. I'm writing down the ideas that I think about, describing them and developing them, but never in a narrative way, just in a descriptive way of what would be the ideal for me.

And it's cool. I really love doing it. <3 I wish that more people would do as you say and just experiment and write. In fact, last night I published a post with a few tips to overcome creative blocks and it's just like that. Don't get stuck in an unpleasant structure and let your wings open and lead you to the skies!

News from dropahead: How to give back to the dropahead Project in 15 seconds or less

Starting from the end...
Good idea.
Writing is fun to me. I feel happy when i done some write. Everything is easy if we take it as a fun. With in stress nothing is possible. Even easy thing will be so hard for us.

Stress is the killer of creativity!

You are right

This is quite a challenge. I've never really written a novel or a short fiction piece but this is such a nice idea.

That's great to hear! If you're a content writer, I advise writing short fiction. And vice versa. It really helps get you out of the box :)

Thanks for the advice. I need more time. Hahahha. I'll definitely keep this in mind. ^^

@arbitrarykitten I like it when you take US for a Ride down the path......................

It's an entertaining journey, even if bumpy at times...

;)

Something new and better always starts when something bad ends, for example, a day starts when the night ends. But its not always that end is a bad thing, sometimes good things also ends to start something even better.

Great WriteUp.
