Meet Our Steem Witness With @justyy. Episode 22

For steemians who don't know much about witnesses, can you give a layman explanation of what it is that witnesses do?

A steem witness is a computer server that packs the activity into a block, and then broadcast it to the steem blockchain. As a reward (thank you) of the work, steem is rewarded to the witness each time a block is produced.

Being a witness takes a lot of time and energy, how do you keep a balance between this and other commitments?

Always priorities the work. I have to thank you too @dhavey for his patiences, I am super busy over these days and I move from projects to projects. Finally i've got some time for these questions. Being a witness means that I have to keep an eye on the status of the witness server, which means that sometimes I check my witness performance every two hours.

Where do you see steem and steemit in 5 years?

Steem is now the biggest blockchain in the world. It will become more integrated into the real world. I can see that in a few year's time, steem will be accepted in most superstores and supported via credit card.
steemit will continue expanding, including to other similar areas e.g. micro blog, twitter-like etc.

When you are not in front of your computer helping the Steem community, what other hobbies do you have?

I am a part time freelancer. Apart from family bonding time, I spent most of my spare time programming (small projects)

With some of the current problems Steem faces, what, if any solutions do you see?

The old posts are not easy to be navigated and found. front-end UI (steemit or busy) could be improved and features like how posts are managed in Wordpress could be added.

With so many other tools and sites having been created for the Steemit user, if you had to pick one, which would be the most useful for a new Steemian to use?

steemd.com helps to understand what happens to steemit blockchain.

What is the biggest mistake new users make when joining Steemit?

They want to make quick money.

If there was a worldwide internet and cellular blackout for a week, what would you do for those 7 days?

Travel.

If you could only vote for one witness (not yourself) who would it be and why?

I'll vote for the current witness ranked at 21st. Because i think he/she just needs a bit more luck and possibly I can help him/her by giving a vote.
