Introduction

Heya all, @martibis here, a little later as usual as I managed to lock myself out of the apartment I'm staying in in Berlin! Woops!

#1 Chuao, Venezuela.

For our first featured post of today @gabyoraa takes us to Chuao, Venezuela. Going here on a photography documentary trip on which some amazing pictures were captured. Reaching the village in itself, is quite a feat already, you have to drive through the Henri Pittier National Park (which we are promised another post on), through the jumanji jungle behind it to Choroni. From here you cross over by boat, through a stunning bay area. For the last leg you go through acres of cacao plantations to finally arrive. Being so hard to reach, the place has kept its unique charm. The village itself has opened up completely towards @gabyoraa, from the lovely people to a strayed dog that kept following her around, the whole experience was one to never forget.

#2 Twenty years without people - Journey to an abandoned mine

For our second featured post @anna-mi takes us to Zarubino in Russia. It is the village she grew up in as a kid, but she hasn't gone back their for a long time. Considering the state it is in, that is not such a big surprise either. What once used to be a village numbering perhaps a few thousand people, quickly dwindled to around two-hundred inhabitants after the mine close by the village suddenly was closed. Young people all moved away, and now only older people and abandoned houses are left.

#3 Sand Trapped on Safari in the Desert Dunes

Last up today @travelman takes us on a Desert Safari from Dubai. For fifty bucks the package seemed to offer a lot of things, camel rides, sand boarding, shisha, drinks, dune bashing, bbq buffet, desert sunset and several dance shows. Booking it with two seemingly lovely girls from the hostel, what could possibly go wrong...! First up is the dune bashing, with SUV cruising through the dunes, so far all is still good. But when it seems that not everything is perfectly planned out, one of the hostel girls makes it worse by acting very entitled. Luckily @travelman finds a new buddy to hang out with, and whilst the camel ride was definitely a sad affair (30 seconds on a little walk, yay), he still manages to make quite a fun day out of it!

Heya, you're so welcome! It definitely was an amazing post. I've been wanting to visit Venezuela for some time now, but the current political situation has made me reconsider unfortunately! (@martibis here)

Well, it is obviously something to reconsider. But there are still some places that are safe. Chuao is one of them. And Angel Falls is still a safe place.
