Hi. It's @choogirl here. And here we are at the end of another week! January is already racing by and I've failed to book any of the flights for my own travel that I wanted to book this week. But as they say in Latin America, "mañana, mañana". I feel like I'm embracing this way of life whether I want to or not.

Traveldigest

#1 Hiking in the Seven Ladders Canyon, Romania

@adonisabril starts us off today with a hike through the gorgeous Seven Ladders Canyon, carved from the Șapte Scări Brook in the Piatra Mare mountains. The trailhead is 15 minutes from Brasov and gets its name due to each waterfall having a ladder leading to another, with seven ladders altogether. The hike will reward you with stunning views of the gorge. When the weather is good you can save time on the descent by zip lining all the way back down the mountain, dodging pine trees as you go.

#2 Exploring Valletta, Malta

Longtime Travel Digest favourites @jny.untraveled are back and this time they are in Valletta, Malta to ring in the new year. The exceptionally well-preserved buildings and hilly terrain provide numerous photo opportunities, which they've clealy taken advantage of. As @jny.untraveled explore the city, we learn about the Valletta's history, the unique Baroque style balconies, the gardens, and the cannon guns that fire twice a day. They end their day with a gorgeous sunset and gelato.

#3 The Saman Dance, Aceh, Indonesia

In our final post, @zikmaulana shines a light on the fascinating Gayo Saman dance and forestry conservation efforts in Aceh, Indonesia. UNESCO has designated the Saman dance a World Cultural Heritage event. In 2017 it broke the MURI World Record Award for the second time for the number of dancers involved (12,262). On top of this, the Saman dance performance titled "Saman Guard Leuser" is a part of a Gayo community action campaign to protect and conserve the forests and ecosystems of Leuser Mountain.
