Pleasant German city near Poland

It's always nice to visit small towns. During the European tour I returned from France back to Russia.
My path lay across Dresden further east. Then I met the town of Bautzen.
I have never heard of the existence of this city before.
Walking around the city was pleasant. The medieval towers of the fortress and the ancient bridge across the river Spree are very interesting.
Of course, after Dresden this city is much simpler. But in this simplicity there is a pleasant feeling of coziness and warmth.
