A total of 12,262 citizens from the community, civil servants, military and police, and students follow the event Saman dance in mass at the stadium of Thousand Hill, Blangkejeren District, Gayo Lues District, Aceh.
Saman Dance is a traditional Gayo dance that is usually performed to celebrate important events, such as traditional events, culture, and art performances. Besides Saman dance is also one of the media to deliver sermon messages.
Every movement and poem in this dance also reflect on education, religion, manners, heroism, cohesiveness and togetherness.
Saman Dance has been designated UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage in the Sixth Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Not objects UNESCO in Bali, 24 November 2011 last.
This is the second time Gayo Lues government held this grand event to re-break the World MURI Record by performing a saman dance titled "Saman Guard Leuser" which followed 12.262 dancers. Previously Saman dance has also broke the World Record MURI with the number 5054 dancers in 2014 ago.
The dancers are from 144 villages in 11 sub-districts within Gayo Lues District, or known as the country of Seribu Bukit. It is expected that this Saman performance will be able to improve and develop the region as a halal tourism destination, which has earned the best predicate of International World Travel Week version in Abu Dhabi in the year 2016 ago.
Saman Dance of Forest Guards and Nature Leuser
Not only won the world's only record, saman dance performance titled "Saman Guard Leuser" is also a Gayo community action and the entire community of Aceh to campaign protection and conserve forests and ecosystems Leuser mountain which is the world's lungs.
Leuser Ecosystem is a natural rain forest that boasts of Indonesia and the world. Its territory stretches an area of 2.6 million hectares in two provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra.
Efforts to maintain the Leuser forest ecosystem are also fully supported by the government and the governor of Aceh, as in addition to preserving it, it can also promote Gayo Lues Regency which is rich in natural tourism potential.
