[Steemit Tips] 7 Ways To Get People To CLICK On Your Link
Here's what you may have experienced as a blogger on Steemit. You create your post, taking a few hours to draft it, proofread it and then finally edit it one last time before you hit publish. You wait for a few seconds and then start refreshing the page to see how many upvotes you've received.
None for the first few minutes. The first two upvotes trickle in after five minutes. At thirty minutes you have a handful of upvotes, a few cents earned and probably 1 or 2 comments.
Sounds familiar? You're not alone - this happens to almost everyone, perhaps excepting those whose posts are always magically featuring on the trending page.
But to be fair, your post does appear on the new posts page, starting at the top, but then goes tumbling down in the feed, disappearing from the screen in a few minutes. Surely, a few hundred people must be seeing it when it is high up on the new posts page, given the fact that there thousands online at any given time on Steemit.
But the sad truth is, most of them may not read your post.
So how do you get people to click on the link to your post?
1. The Title Itself
Most importantly, your title has to be catchy and must kindle curiosity. It must be something that a lot of people in your niche are interested in. Whether you're publishing a post on homesteading, fitness or cryptocurrency, if your title looks as uninteresting as the others, no one will click on it.
A great technique is to have a sub title and another title after that - it works on Steemit. This makes the reader keep reading the long title and then clicks through to your post.
2. Use Caps
What is the most important word in your title? Type that word in caps so that it catches the eye of the prospective reader. You can also have the first letter of each word on your title in caps. I have seen some bloggers use emojis but too much of it can make the title look spammy.
3. Thumbnail Image
Besides an attractive title it is also important to have an eye catching thumbnail image. If your image is boring no one will click on your post. If you go through my posts on my profile page you'll notice that I use custom made thumbnail images with a picture and the title on it(using the free version of Canva).
For example, take the image above of one of my previous posts- it does get noticed, doesn't it?
4. Revealing
Another trick is to reveal something that people are looking for. Use the word tricks instead of tips, or promise to reveal a secret in your title.
5 .Lists
List titles are very popular and get clicked on. Examples are "5 Ways To..." or "3 Tips For..." - you get the hang of it.
6. Humor
Adding humor to your title or having a funny image also works. But it may not be suitable for a post that is supposed to be somber or very serious, like for example a post about a tragedy or a sad story.
7. Saving The Best For The Last
Here is a trick that only a few Steemit bloggers know. Choose one or two tags that are popular but do not have as many posts as the top categories. For this you have to go to tags and sort the posts in descending order(for some reason you can't sort in ascending order).
Scroll down the page until you find a relevant tag that has a high 4-digit number of posts. Getting your post into a slightly less popular category will help your post stay on the new, hot or trending page in that category for a longer period of time.
Promote
Last but not the least promote your post wherever there is an audience that will be interested in what you have to say. This includes Steemit chat rooms, Discord channels, Facebook, Twitter and other social networks where you have a following.
Every view counts and with an attractive title and eye catching image people are bound to click through to your post.
Hope you find these tips useful!

Good tips, all of them but the one on tags was different and made a lot of sense so I'm definitely going to try that one. Thank you for all the wonderful advice. :)
Thanks! Glad that you liked the tips!
Great advice! Things we should all keep in mind when putting in all this work on content. Very well done. Thank you for the share.

LOVE this post! Such great advice and words of wisdom I have followed since joining last July.
Thanks! I am glad that you liked it!
You never cease to amaze me with your easy to follow, step-by-step guides to help Steemians grow and be successful. I believe I'm naturally doing most of those recommendations except the "humor" and the "saving the best to the last" parts... I still need to work on those.
It is a basic guide but if followed can be quite rewarding especially for newbies. I've been through your previous posts and you're doing great. But there's always scope for doing some more for all of us!
Greta advice and a lot I need to remember and take into account when preparing my posts :)
Thanks
