This is a little memorial Garden in the United Nations Headquarters compound in New York City

And a closer in shot of the memorial wall which says Remember those who gave their lives for peace, I have visited this spot many times but not taken or shared photos before, I go there for a quiet moment to remember some colleagues and friends who have lost their lives in various missions while serving with the United Nations.
For this reason, it is quite a somber moment when I visit there and till now I haven't shared shots of this spot. on any site till now.
You may be curious as to why I am sharing this today, well it is the memory of those UN peacekeepers including some friends and colleagues of mine who died or were injured, in the Canal Hotel Bombing in Baghdad on this day in 2003, 22 people died and over 100 were wounded that day.
If you're wondering how many Peacekeepers both Military and civilian and have given their life while serving in Peacekeeping Missions since 1948, the number is 3755, may they all rest in peace.

My condolences, and thank you for sharing. It is something of a sad statement about our society when we put huge war memorials everywhere. I don't think there is a city park in Idaho without a tank or bomber in it... Yet for peace, how many parks even exist? That is a really a lovely idea and place.
Sadly it is so true what you say, War gets such memorials Peace hardly any :(

That's an incredible memorial, really well designed quite peaceful and yet really makes you think. It's always sad to think of friends or relatives lost, and this especially for you a day of remembrance - although of course by remembering we keep their spirit alive - and the work they were doing would have helped and benefitted so many people.
