SLEEPING BEAUTIES #9 - FOUND ON THE ROUTE 66 ROADSIDE ---- GEFUNDEN AN DER ROUTE 66 STRASSENSEITE

in #photography7 years ago

Dear Steemians

When I traveled the Route 66 travel this March this year, I found among other things so many old wrecks, which often served as part of a roadside attraction.

Since I find that each of these old ladies tell their own story, I tried to capture these stories with my camera. These old beauties in their sad state break the hearts of many vintage car lovers. I by myself would also like to restore one or the other of these beauties.

I started a series with these pieces of well formed metal. I call the them

SLEEPING BEAUTIES

I know the make, it's a Rambler, but not the model oft this particular car. Therefore I'll give a full 100% upvote (don't expect to much - I'm a little 🐟) to the first comment revealing the correct model - not a big challenge, just for the fun!

I hope you enjoy and wish you all a wonderful day, dear fellow Steemians!

See you!

Liebe Steemians

I'm not very good with cars, but we were a Rambler family. My Mom had a Classic, an American (which I learned to drive in) then a Marlin. One grandpa had a Classic, and the other grandpa had an Ambassador. There had beed a Nash or two in the family snd my aunt drove a pink Rambler station wagon. You'd think I could ID this one, but I'm only guessing that it is maybe an American?

Hello Melinda! Guess you are the closest. It is a 1962 Rambler American Classic 400. Here is a restaured one, that I found now: Rambler America
Here comes a 100% upvote for your reply! Thanks for having part in the fun. :)

Wow...very generous of you! Thanks so much. Not sure of the year, but this is my dad, uncle, and grandpa with their brand new cars!

The left car is exactly the similar car like the one in my post, just look at the detail of the front.
Is your Dad the man on the left! Seems to be a though guy, soldier or so!
I love those old photos an yours is amazing! Have a great day, Melinda! 😃

Yes..dad is on the left. He would have just been out of the army 5 years or so in this photo. He worked construction as a heavy equipment operator his entire life. So did my grandfather. Both were crane operators.

Though jobs! At that time, guess these were the people making America great! Nevertheless they worked hard, these must have been golden years.

I still love traveling around the midwest and pointing out bridges and buildings to the grandkids that their gr. Grandpa built. I used to be able to find GrGr Grandpa bridges, but most of them are gone now.

Must really be great to show the kids the bridges Grandpa built. I remember now a post like that of yours. :)

Great photo and well done!

Thanks....I always relied on Jim for the car data, and Im learning that I didn't absorb much from him!

that car looks awesome!!

Thank you so very much, Shaun! :)

Beautiful shots man! Checked out all previous ones also, just because I'm a petrolhead :) Great post, thanks for sharing #keepsteemin

Great one..
Love your snap collections of old metal..

Thank you so very much! Have a great weekend! :)

Same to you sir..:)

Ah another one! Such a shame they just ended up here. However I am sure they also make pretty decoration.

meep

Hello @ionlysaymeep! Glad to see you again! :)

Yes, I guess, that's what their owners want them to be: Kind of decoration and witnesses of better times at the route 66.

Yes, I guess. But I guess I'd rather see them driving around!

Also, I found out that this is my 2500th comment! Wow!

Cool! Congrats to all those Steemit Birthdays! :)

Aaa thanks :D

Ein toller sleeping Beauty. Upvote

Danke Dir, mein Freund! :)

Quite the dystopian scenes of decay. Nicely done.

Thank you so very much!
Yes, these scenes of decay can be found all along Route 66.
