Steem Tools – Your complete guide to the tools available on steemit. Part 2

in #steemtools8 years ago (edited)

Steem Tools now has over 72 tools and apps you can use with Steemit, It has been a spreading like a zombie pandemic since it started and it’s only just begun. This series will be reviewing tools currently available for steemit and how they work. Our aim is to give you a quick summary of each tool and how useful they may be for you. I also will be interviewing some of the developers to get a better understanding of the tools.

Before we start I would personally like to thank @roelandp for working so hard to put all these together on the one website. If you would like to show your support click here and up-vote his blog his most recent steemtools blog.

Steemit Forum created by @steemitqa

The goal of this forum was created to keep the community informed and organised and really how can steemit not have a forum? The developer has intentions of building the forum on a block-chain so this would mean you get paid for the topics and discussions mentioned on the forum. It a bit surprising the creator of this forum has literally got nothing for his massive contribution compared to other developers which have paid thousands for theirs. Give this guy an up-vote for his good work.

There is a lot of useful information on here the only downfall is that it’s not as active as you would expect it be.. then again steemit is still very new and I’m sure sites like this will grow in time with the sign up of new steemit members. It is exactly would you expect the forum to be though “organised information” I think I will go ahead and bookmark the Steemit Writing Help (Tips & Tricks) section for myself and check back on it when I get some spare time.

Steem Prices created by @jasonmcz

Another pricing tool which displays all the relevant prices, the prices flashes every few seconds so you know it’s been updated live. It gets direct data from Poloniex & Bittrex and the steemit internal market on all the available pairs and then is normalised back to the USD $ on the top section.

Currently displaying

  • BTC-USD
  • USD-STEEM
  • BTC-SBD
  • BTC-STEEM
  • ETH-STEEM
  • USD-SBD

This is alternative to steemdollar which is the one I have been using, the benefit of this is you don’t have to switch tabs to get prices, its all on the one screen. The web page also has some links to help explain what steem & steem dollars are.

Steem IQ created by @nphacker

An interesting idea, Steem IQ gives the user an indication of their “steem IQ & school grade”. I went to test this out and typed in @ned to see what would happen. He scored 96.6 in the steem IQ so this must mean I smarter than him because I scored 114 in steem IQ just don’t ask me how to explain where the money comes from or how a block-chain works though.

The more interesting feature is the educational search, just pick an academic subject and the page loads up with lots of informative steemit links relevant to the topic.

3 Steemit Google Chrome Extensions You Must Have

1) Steemification created by @fleuri

This is another one of my favourite tools, its a near little notification app that lets you know when people reply, down-vote, comment or up-vote your blog. It doesn’t get in your way and it only pops up for a few seconds in the bottom corner of your screen.

It stays there just long enough so you can see who made the comment/up-vote then fades away. The app comes with additional filter settings along with how often you want the app to check for updates. It much better to have this than to keep refreshing the page to see how many votes are coming in. Future updates are still coming and may look something like this:

2) Steemit - Steemd created by @bitcoiner & @johnerfx

I believe bitcoiner is developer of this app and johnerfx created the chrome extension version of it. The original app was a browser bookmark which switched you from steemit to steemd web page or vice versa. It give you the corresponding user profile stats in relation to who’s blog you are looking at.

Steemd diplays all the “back ground data” that goes on in steemit, for example a person could be stating he is giving 10% of his funds to a charity but rather than going into his wallet you could quickly switch between pages to steemd and back again to view their transaction history to verify his statements.

3) Steem/Steemit Assets price ticker created by @johnerfx

The prices are taken from coinmarketcap.com and updates every few minutes, if you click on it you can refresh the prices manually and see full details otherwise it just displays the current steem dollar worth.

Thanks for sharing this! I really like the SteemIQ tool - it tells me I have the writing level of JK Rowling... not sure if that's good or bad
