Steem UK : introducing @steemclub-uk to support UK content creators
As one small step to help support and grow the Steem community in the UK I have set up the steem account @steemclub-uk.
I am delegating a large chunk of my available steempower to this account and have set up an auto-voter to start giving small votes to UK based content creators.
I have delegated 500 SP to test it works. Once all is going okay I will increase this to 2000 SP.
Initially I plan to give all 120+ UK steemians a 10% vote per day.
I will monitor this over the next week or so to see if this percentage is sustainable.
I am trying this out as a personal commitment initially but if anyone would like to delegate to the account feel free.
Options for voting percentages
Once it is established there are a number of options to be considered for determining who gets what voting percentage.
- Should everyone get an equal vote regardless of other factors?
- Should people be rewarded with greater voting percentages if they are active in promoting steem in the UK?
- Should people be rewarded with greater voting percentages according to how much they have delegated to the account?
- Or should some combination of all three measures be employed?
Thoughts and opinions welcome on this...

Next Steem UK Virtual Meetup
The next Steem UK Virtual Meetup has been set for Thursday 29 November.
This will take place 8pm - 11pm UK time during my radio show on MSP Waves.
Everyone is welcome to join in.

Getting the vote weight right can be challenging. I like the VP to be around 80-90%.

That's a great initiative @pennsif setting up the @steemclub-uk. I know a lot of other countries like Australia, NZ, Japan, Malaysia have support groups so it's great that UK are starting our own as well.
Personally I think it would be great to focus on helping newbies as a priority to ensure they stick around. And then anyone else who promotes Steem in UK, and then everyone else. That's my 2 cents worth.
And yes, I'd love to be added to the list so I can keep up to date with what's happening. I'm currently in Taiwan (handle was a bit of a giveaway I guess ^_^)

I think this is a great idea @pennsif and I will delegate some sp for sure. At some point next week when I have time to work out what I might need my sp for project-wise I'll work out how much.
In regards to function for the @steemclub-uk support bot.
I do think both promoters and delegators should get a small proportional bump in vote percentage, at least at first, but not huge. If loads of people on the list delegated then maybe it wouldn't matter as the account would grow to SP levels that gave everyone a decent vote regardless.
I'll make it to the virtual meet up again and maybe share my experience at steemfest where I met @revisesociology and a few other Brits like @cryptogee.
I think this idea could grow into a massive promotional tool over the next 6 months as the account grows. Have you thought about making a weekly update on the account and asking everyone to set an autovote of 100% on it with a promise that all post rewards are powered up? Or even a daily or 3/4 week update post. This would be a good way to increase the account SP as time passes creating abundance for the current UK authors and higher incentive to new potential steemians we are promoting to.

Consider looking at Wise - a curation support where you allow others vote with your voting power and still keep control over the votes. It's like more fine-grained delegation without delegating.
With that, as the community evolves you could designate votes to curators in a given area. Good stuff gets a vote and you don't need to find it all yourself. And you can withdraw if you don't agree with a decision.
