Musings #5: Tag your posts in Steemit Worldmap!

in #steemitworldmap7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemit friends! In this post, I will share about a new tool that I have discovered recently. I will give out some reasons why I think it's pretty cool, and how you could get into the action too! I have been using Steemit Worldmap in my Dean Visits travel blog series ever since I have discovered it. I think it is a clever way to further extend my reach to other fellow Steemians as well as potential Steemians alike. Read on to know more about this ingenious tool. :)

What is Steemit Worldmap?

Steemit Worldmap is a tool introduced by @blueorgy and @martibis primarily intended to be utilized by the Steemit community. Read the introduction post about @steemitworldmap here.
Check out the wonderful travel posts made by our fellow Steemians:

Steemit Worldmap also comes with an editor’s edition where Steemit Worldmap’s curators pick out quality contents here:

Put your posts in the map, literally!

By using Steemit Worldmap, you are putting you in the map! As I have mentioned, using Steemit Worldmap extends your reach to our fellow Steemians, especially those who might otherwise miss your posts. I like reading the awesome posts here on Steemit, I usually seek out posts in my feed and in the Steemit homepage feed, but there are times when searching through tons of text leads me to feel that what I am doing is too monotonous. Steemit Worldmap is a welcome relief for I can literally seek out contents authored by Steemians the world over, at the palm of my hands! I feel like an adventurer seeing posts from the places I’m interested in, as well as other places which I have not heard about. There are days when I want to see what happens in this part of the world, or simply get curious and ask myself: what can I see if I ever go there? It is a valuable tool for us to see the world through the eyes of our fellow Steemians.

I have been around here on Steemit for over a month now, and I can definitely agree that this is the future of social media. Here on the Steemit tribe, we generally have our sub-tribes, which makes us feel more at home. And through our sub-tribes and respective circles, we introduce Steemit to potential Steemians. In my sub-tribe, for instance, @surpassinggoogle, @cloh76, @steemph, and @jassennessaj, among others, have been actively promoting Steemit to non-users. They also patiently guide new members become awesome Steemians, and of course, make us all feel that we belong to the community. As we promote Steemit to future Steemians, Steemit Worldmap can greatly aid in this endeavor. It is easy to present the map and say, look at the members and their posts, Steemit truly is a global community! Rather than us saying that Steemit members are all around the globe and show nothing for it. A picture is worth a thousand words after all.

Elevate your posts!

Using Steemit Worldmap is easy, just tag your post by writing this code anywhere in your post: !steemitworldmap {insert latitude coordinate here} lat {insert longitude coordinate here} long {insert your title or short post description here} D3SCR. Just remember to put your coordiantes in decimal form. That’s it! For example, we have this tag for the very first marker in the map: !steemitworldmap 45.782685 lat -34.312676 long This was the first marker on this map! D3SCR.

You can get the coordinates for your post by searching it in google maps, or you can use this site instead: https://www.maps.ie/coordinates.html. If you know the coordinates you want to use and need to convert it in decimal form, visit this site:
http://www.latlong.net/degrees-minutes-seconds-to-decimal-degrees. And if you prefer your code font to be smaller, just put in < sub> before the text of code and then type in < /sub> after the text of your code (erase the spaces in the codes). See my image citation for the resulting font size.^

Hope you guys enjoyed this entry. Start tagging your posts, and see you there!

The 2 links you shared in the quote I mentioned above doesn't work.

Would love to try it but I can't get my coordinates for my post. I'm suck at this😂. Your post is very informative. Thankyou! 😊

Thanks for the heads up @iamrosallie. Are you perhaps using your phone? I don't know why, the links were working if I use my laptop but it also doesn't work when I use my phone. Maybe it's a bug. Anyway, I spelled out the website address per link. So you can just copy it anytime.^^

My pleasure. I'll try to use my desktop later so I could compare as well. I will. Thanks😊
