Training School Age Children Discipline

Train primary school students to discipline is not easy. In this phase, the development of children is still in the stage of playing and having fun. As a parent who has two children, I try different ways to apply discipline to them. My first child was 6 years old, and the second was 2.5 years old.

Well, in this article I only focus on training the discipline of children aged 6 to 12 years. Entering this phase, the children have been in the school environment. Their time will be divided into sections. My son spent time in school about 5 hours. I do not know what he did there.

In psychological theory, I take the example of Erik Erikson's theory. He classified this age on stage four, namely industry vs inferiority. According to this source, "Children are at the stage where they will be learning to read and write, to do sums, to do things on their own. Teachers begin to take an important role in the child’s life as they teach the child specific skills. It is at this stage that the child’s peer group will gain greater significance and will become a major source of the child’s self-esteem. The child now feels the need to win approval by demonstrating specific competencies that are valued by society and begin to develop a sense of pride in their accomplishments." Here they are detached from parental supervision. Peers and teachers who will be their reflection in behavioral development.

In the school environment, the role of teachers is very important in training the discipline of children. Perhaps, the rules experienced by children will be different when they are at home and at school. In a school environment, children are bound by strict rules. They are trained where the good and what not to do. To implement this does not require a gradual process.

Get used the discipline in children of this age starting with the timing. Parents play a role in keeping time for their children. When is the time children to play, when it's time for the children to eat, when it's time for the children to sleep, and so on. No matter how busy a parent is, it is very important to keep their children to class. If children are late to class, this will have an impact on their psychology in the presence of peers.

In addition to time discipline, it is also important for children to line up before going to class. The line is led by the class leader. He is responsible for classroom order. The class leader checks his line and reports to the teacher how many students are not in the line. The discipline points found here are responsible for the mandated duties.

School children are also trained to honor their teachers. This is also another important point in training discipline. One by one the students greet their teacher before going to class. You can see the following picture.

In the school environment there are rules that must be obeyed by children. The consequences for children who violate the rules are punishment. However, you should not imagine the severe punishment these children receive. Of course, the punishment given is an educational punishment.

After five hours at school, they will be back together with their parents at home. Then, what can we do to train discipline children? I cite the following source, at least there are some steps that can be done parents, among others: don't coddle them, involving them in something bigger, model self-discipline, demonstrate and teach how to manage anger, cut back on consumption, and give them opportunities to make choices with smaller consequences.

Thus some ways to train discipline for primary school student. Parents are the main characters here, then teachers and peers.
