The Steemit Twins Are Cranky | Is It The State Of Crypto That's Got Them Down?
For the last three nights, the twins haven't been sleeping well. More accurately, they haven't been sleeping. We went from 11-12 solid hours of sleep to hours of not sleeping.
Squirt takes the 10pm to 1 am shift. She wakes herself up crying. After quieting down, she's wide awake. She'll play on the floor, then she wants to be held. She might try a bottle, but isn't really interested. She lays down, cries, then the cycle repeats. Last night Squish decided not to miss out on the fun and took the 1 am to 3 am shift.
By the time they were finally asleep, I was in tears.
Has crypto got them down?
While all this happens to coincide with low Steem numbers, I think we must have picked up a virus over the weekend. On Monday, I noticed the girls batting their ears and within a few hours, my ears started hurting. Garlic drops all around. I've got allergies on top of it, so my sinuses are clogged up, leaving me a headache over my right eye. Battling that all day, then staying up late with the girls ... it takes courage to be a parent ... and I'm running low.
Still making time for Steemit
It takes courage to stay on Steemit too with the way crypto's been lately. I haven't been on as frequently, but it's clear I haven't missed out much. My feed has slowed to a trickle and in general, Steemit seems pretty quiet.
But the reason why we keep on Steeming is not too far off from the reason we keep on parenting. Okay, I love my kids and I don't love Steemit, but it's keeping my eye on the future that helps me get through these tough times.
Looking forward
The twins will eventually outgrow this phase - maybe tonight or tomorrow or three weeks from now. But together, all of us will move on. We’ll have found the courage to dry our eyes and keep trying our best. The question I ask myself, is will I regret that I didn’t make the most of the hard times? Did I only look at it as losing 3 hours of sleep or did I use it as an opportunity to show my girls what self-sacrificing love looks like?
With Steemit, my hopes aren’t anything that grand. I just know that someday I’ll be glad I have these stories to share with my girls. And perhaps I'll be congratulating myself for the little bit of Steem I make on this post ... who knows what it might be worth someday?

Oh the restless child adventure! Many of us know it well.... But we did not have the pleasure of experiencing the double dose! XD
As for crypto and Steem.... I am loving it! I mean low activity on the platform is a bit of a drag, but the low prices are a buying opportunity for me, so I am just fine with it! Wanna sell me some?? :-P
Crypto is for 2, 5 and 20 years from now.... So atm it is just play time. Learn time. And invest time.

We'd love to buy now too! Since I don't see ourselves having much to leave the girls, it'd be nice to think that the chunks of time I'm spending now will pay out for them someday...
Oh, poor thing! My sister went through that with one of her boys, but two is a bit more to bear than with one.

Especially when they go back to back :S I don't know how they do it but they can sleep through the other one crying. As soon as it's quiet though, that's when they decide it's their turn to be up :'(
Oh the fun we have to look forward too lol. I havent been on steemit much lately either but it has nothing to do with the price of Steem. Like you baby stuff takes priority and he hasnt even arrived yet. Lol.
I have kept up my curation posts through the @asapers with the help of the lovely @lynncoyle1 but my poor @insideoutlet account has seen little love. A comment here a zappl there lol. Its Easter this weekend and we have 5 days off. So I can find at least one of those to finish my first adoption post. I gather inspration from your commitment and courage.

In Australia there is a social media ban until post adoption process which must be after a minimum of 6 months him arriving. So no pics online but lots of stories to share and advice to borrow lol 💜

Btw, I read your story about Precious and Phoebe last night ... it was amazing! I was working on a comment and then the clock struck 10. Both babies wide awake and needing my attention. So the comment was forgotten. But I did want you to know I really enjoyed it!

It's so fun to meet twins ... I'm realizing I knew so few only because twins eventually outgrow spending their days dressed in matching outfits, riding in a twin stroller LOL :P Now that we have twins, I keep meeting adults who are twins (only 1 out of the 2 though).
Are you and your twin identical?
It's funny how life seems to work that way! My sister and I are fraternal, but my mom dressed us in identical things and bought identical everything until about the 6th grade where we both said enough haha We are very different people, but spent most of our school years hanging out together. We have lived our adult lives across the country from each other though, so we're not as close as we once were , but funny enough, there's been times in our life where one of us is having an issue of some sort and the other has sensed it...out of the blue, a phone call is made and sure enough, one of us needed it. Pretty awesome and very uncanny! I've heard it's a twin "thing" though! My mom says that as babies, before we could speak, she could hear us babbling away, carrying on full conversations together in our crib, with inflection, pauses etc. but it wasn't in English haha She swears thought that the two of us understood every single word of it ;)
Have fun with those babies!! My boys are now 20 and 23 and it really feels like yesterday they were your kids' age. Some days are long, I'm sure, but the years seem short! ;)

They mirror my thoughts on the state of Crypto right now. I really thought things would be turning around this week, but I was wrong, as usual :)
Well, someday we'll probably be laughing about these "little" dips ... "Remember when we worried that Steem dropped $2? Hahahahaha ..."

Read a couple of your posts and kinda fell in love with your style (the super-cute twins didn’t hurt either). Liked how you compared Steemit to online dating in an earlier post and the low Steem price to a hard phase in parenting in this one. Adorbs!

How many months are the babies now? Sometimes they say it's just a different phase and transition every month. My baby the other night was also cranky. She sleeps for a good 30 minutes then wakes up crying; it went like that for 4 times. How can you still post here on steemit with all that? If that's me, I don't think I'd be able to cope. These days with just a lack of sleep and I'm already having a hard time blogging here. But like you said, 'it's keeping eye on the future that helps us get thru these tough times.' Steemit will make things happen. Agree? I hope Squirt and Squish gets better soon..and you of course. Take care of yourself. You and the babies will be needing that.
Thanks so much @filnette! Taking care of myself is hard ... I'm usually too tired to think about it! :D The girls are 10 months now. I've noticed that sleeping patterns change when they go through a growth spurt and they've really increased the amount of solids they've been eating. But I think some of it was an earache ... they would wake up crying like they were in pain and then not be able to go back to sleep. But thankfully, they're sleeping better now!
How is your little one now? That sounds similar to what was happening here too!
Steemit is kind of therapeutic I think ... instead of just storing up all the tiredness and thoughts of "what am I doing wrong?!" I get to write it out, share/laugh about it with others, and then realize things aren't really so bad. And then keep moving forward :)

Good to know that they're sleeping better now. How about you? You should not be too tired to think of yourself as well as the girls will be needing that too. My little one has just turned 9months and is now rolling and tossing around the bed when sleeping but nonetheless,sleeping soundly. She also starts to shows a short-tempered behavior. 😔
I agree. Steemit can be therapeutic. I can write anything in here and it helps during the hard times when I really need to 'let out' things.
I'm sleeping better too ... we have an awful mattress though, so sometimes I wake up with a sore back :(
Does your little one get upset when she doesn't get what she wants? Or because she can't communicate what she needs? Squirt is able to tell us when she has a dirty diaper now. She puts her tongue between her lips and "spits" ... she used to do it for fun, but then I started doing it when I would change her. And now she does it consistently to tell me she needs to be changed. I know it's frustrating for them though when we don't understand what they need.
That is sooo cute!! You just gave me an idea.lol. Such a witty baby Squirt is. May baby often throws tantrums when we can't give her what she wants. Most times we really intend not to just to tease her and oh she can really throw a tantrum.
