Steemit Goal(s) for this week and beyond!

I set a few goals for myself this week on Steemit!

I recently told my wife that my goal was to be active on Steemit for at least a year and see where it takes me. She is a little skeptical about the whole "get paid to blog based on the value of a cryptocurrency" idea. To be completely honest, so am I .. but I think that is a good thing and let me explain why!

  1. If I thought it would be easy, I wouldn't put as much effort into the platform.
  2. I honestly believe that Steemit is an amazing community and I have already interacted with so many amazing people that I am happy and proud to be here!
  3. I believe that the opportunity cost between being an active participant in the Steemit Community vs not participating in the Steemit Community makes it worthwhile for me to continue being active on Steemit.
  4. Having skepticism about something isn't always a bad thing! Skepticism leads to asking questions and asking questions leads to finding answers, which means I'm learning. I am a huge supporter of learning something new every day!

So .. Here is a Start to My Goals:

  • This Week: Post at least 4 times in one day (apparently this is one of the items that gives you a "badge" from one of the bots, and those badges are personally motivating to me!)
  • Grow my following to 500+ people within 3 months on Steemit. I feel like this is a conservative goal, but I would ideally like to attract ACTIVE followers. Quality over Quantity! :)
  • Add more of myself to my posts. Before you get the wrong idea, what I mean here is to add more of a personal feeling to my posts. I don't want to sit here talking about how awesome or terrible my day was, but I want to add more feelings to my posts where the readers feel engaged and my posts are more conversational. (I want to talk WITH you all!)
  • Post at least one Interesting / Useful Content-Filled post in an easy-to-consume fashion. This could be with more pictures than words, or a brief set of stories augmented by text .. whatever fits the content!

Once I am able to achieve some of these smaller goals, I am hopeful that some new and more adventurous goals will arise!

Good luck.
I used Steemit Board as a guide for my 4 post a Day badge as well.

As for the 500 followers. I wouldn't set that as a goal. Because as you said, you want Quality over Quantity. You want people who will read your articles and upvote them, even if they can only give $0.001.

So, the harder goal to reach would be a certain number of views and a certain number of upvotes per article. Steemit Board does track average upvotes per post, so that should be easy to keep an eye on.

Or, alternatively, you can set yourself a goal on the number of Comments you post. Of course, it would be up to yourself to determine if all of your comments are good and worth tracking. On a side, those have the better chance of upping your follower count than hoping your post gets viewed.

Thanks for the comment! I definitely agree with your points. I like the idea of tracking comments in addition to the "4 Posts in a Day" guide. I don't think it's necessary to Always post 4x in a day, but it's definitely a good way to keep yourself in the public view / increase your exposure to new followers.

I spend a good amount of time roaming my home "feed", and the new post page, in search of interesting posts to comment on. I have found many new people who I want to follow using that method, as well as found new followers based on my comments to various posts.

My thought/hope is that with enough Active followers, as long as they continue to grow, and continue to enjoy my posts, we will all benefit from growing together!

I am not a fan of "click bait", so I may wait to track the number of views ... but that's also a very useful metric to keep an eye on.

Thanks again!

I should also add that I would like to stop seeing this message, especially after I only posted ONE article!:

New to Steemd:

Welp, that is due to another issue and they are trying to fix it.
I see that error as well.

BTW, I just read that if you do more than 4 posts per 24 hour period, then your posts after 4 will not get the 100% payout.

Well, that sucks. I guess I won't waste anymore blog posts on something that comes up and only plan for the 4 I want to do for the day.

I think with HF 19, that restriction changed. I'm not 100% sure, but someone had mentioned it in another post.

Either way, if you have valuable content, the rewards should be secondary .. or you can wait until the next day to post the interesting information :)

I checked some other posts and couldn't find anywhere it was changed.

Well, frankly, what is the point of posting here if not to earn something? That's what they sell it as. I'm pointing it out, because the 4 per Day award seems like it should be a goal, but not a restriction.

Found it! HF 17.0

Remove Posting Rate Limit.

Posting rewards are no longer penalized for posting more than 4 times in 24 hours. Originally this was implemented to reduce the impact of bots posting junk content. Ultimately it ended up hurting legitimate authors.

Nice find.
Thank you.
