Reinventing the Role of Steemhunt Influencers | Sponsor Report - #23

Steemhunt Influencers will be Reborn.

Steemhunt has been running a unique community role - Steemhunt Influencers, curation ambassadors - to promote/support quality hunting posts on Steemhunt, so that they will have the opportunity to be observed more frequently.

Initially, this role was introduced to combat against circle voting attempts that make other quality hunts less visible. The influencers are encouraged to dig out cool products and upvote them with their boosted voting weight so that the cool hunts can get more attention.

Even though this system has worked quite well over the past three months, we think it’s time to reinvent the role because of the following reasons:

  1. Cool hunts with small upvotes are initially still struggled to be seen.
  2. In terms of evaluating influencers, “upvoting cool hunts” is kinda vague and not measurable.
  3. Influencers should be more actively rotated so that many hunters can contribute more to the Steemhunt community.

Influencer’s Mission

Steemhunt influencer’s mission is to constantly dig out “undervalued” hunts, and boost them up so that other hunters have more chances to see the posts. “Undervalued” hunts are the posts that have potential to be considered cool by many people, but only have a low hunt score at the moment.

These are their main roles:

  1. Influencers should dig out “undervalued” hunts and upvote them everyday.
  2. Influencers should leave a comment on quality hunting posts to ask a question, discuss the product, or cheer on the hunter.

How to Evaluate Influencers

The influencer score will be calculated during the period as below:

  • [Influencer Score] = [the average of incremental hunt scores] * [total voting counts / 50]
  • Max value of the total voting counts / 50 is 2.0

Let’s assume that some influencer upvoted five hunts today, and these are the initial to final hunt scores since his/her upvotes:

  • 5 -> 105
  • 10 -> 20
  • 150 -> 170
  • 200 -> 220
  • 10 -> 250

In this case, his/her influencer score will be calculated like this:

  • His/her average of incremental hunt sores = ((105-5)+(20-10)+(170-150)+(220-200)+(250-10))/5 = 78
  • His/her influencer sore = 78*5/50 = 7.8

Rotation - Every Two Weeks

Every two weeks, we will calculate all the incremental hunt scores of each influencer, and the bottom five influencers will be automatically removed from the role. In other words, the basic term period is two weeks, and the lowest five performers will be replaced by others constantly.

To make sure this rotation works smoothly, we will keep receiving influencer applications every two weeks, and select the next five candidates a week before (they will be noticed via the weekly sponsor report) Please check the ‘How to Apply’ section below.

Influencer Benefits

  1. Their voting weight will be x3.
  2. They will receive 3 times more HUNT token rewards for their voting contribution airdrop. For example, if the influencer is about to receive 500 HUNT tokens for his/her daily voting contribution, the amount will be 1,500 HUNT tokens during their role.
  3. Steemhunt will upvote a maximum of 5 comments with a 0.5% voting weight everyday. The first 3 comments will be added to their set voting weight based on their hunter level. The other 2 comments will have a 0.5% voting weight.
  4. You will have an INFLUENCER badge added to your ID on the Steemhunt website.

Qualifications

These are the minimum qualifications as a potential candidate:

  1. Have at least 10 “approved” hunting posts
  2. Over 200 effective Steem Power (due to the RC issue)
  3. Should never have been blacklisted by Steemhunt
  4. Have a hunter level of at least 2 or above
  5. Have a Steemit reputation of at least 50 or above

Important Notices for Influencers

From today, please note the following rules:

  1. To increase your performance index, you should find a cool hunt that has a low hunt score.
  2. Do not copy and paste the same comments for each hunt post. We will upvote your comments to promote more active conversation in the hunting post. You will be immediately removed from the role if you copy and paste similar comments, regardless of your performance index.
  3. Influencers must not be involved in any abuse attempts, group voting pools, or alt account operations. Any influencers involved in such attempts will be immediately removed and blacklisted.

How to Apply

The application rules have also changed. From now on, we will review only the current applications. This means those who were not selected but are still interested will need to apply again for the next round. We will announce ======= Term 1 Application Begins ======== and ======= Term 1 Application is Finished ======== during each term in the #influencer-apply channel. If you weren’t selected in this term and want to be selected next term, you can keep applying each term.

You can apply via the #influencer-apply channel in our Discord group (https://discord.gg/mWXpgks). You should follow this form when you apply.

  • Your STEEMHUNT profile URL (do not type the Steemit link or the invalid link)
  • Nationality / Effective Steem Power at the moment / Hunter level at this moment / Steemit reputation

For example, if @project7 applies, the application should look like this:

Your application WON’T be considered if you:

  • use your Steemit profile or invalid URL
  • lie about your information
  • write any additional information other than above
  • have applied more than once within one term

Please make sure that you put the EFFECTIVE Steem Power, not the total Steem Power. For example, if you have 1000 total SP and delegated 500 to others, your effective SP is 500. The best way is to check your effective SP is via https://steemd.com/@yourusername.

Term Period

Term 1 begins today with the current 20 influencers. Term 2 application is live now in the #influencer-apply channel, and five hunters will be selected for Term 2 next monday KST (when we publish the weekly sponsor report). So the weekly schedule is as follows:

  • Oct 1 - Term 1 begins / Term 2 application is live
  • Oct 8 - Five new influencers are selected for Term 2
  • Oct 15 - Term 2 begins / Lowest five influencers from Term 1 will be replaced by the newly selected ones / Term 3 application is live
  • Oct 22 - Five new influencers are selected for Term 3
  • Oct 29 - Term 3 begins/ Lowest five influencers from Term 2 will be replaced by the newly selected ones / Term 4 application is live
    … this schedule will be repeated every Monday.

Changes in the Airdrops for the Social Sharers

Due to the increasing disparity among the airdrop token rewards in the category of social share airdrop, we decided to change two conditions:

  1. The maximum tokens per traffic (click) will be increased from 100 to 200.
  2. Max traffics per account of 50 will be applied.

This changes are effective by today.

Weekly Sponsor Rewards

Here are the week’s STEEM rewards and HUNT tokens reserved for sponsors (the STEEM rewards have already been sent to sponsors from @steemhunt.pay). 90,000 HUNT tokens per day are reserved for the sponsors, which amounts to 630,000 tokens per week.

    Its bullshit, ive help support steemhunt for 3 months. Upvoted atleast 10 a day. So what i have 46 reputation, i dont upvote myself and you know its impossible to get anyone to see posts if your not buying bot votes which i dont believe is right. Also ive only done 3 steemhunt posts because everytime i found something someone already did it lol and i prefered to just uovote the posts i thought were good.

    Id like to be an influencer, im always on the site, so would be good to be useful too but im not going to just cheat to win like many.

    Hey Liam, I have to disagree with you there... if you submitted good hunts you'd quickly rise in reputation because the Steemhunt system has quite a high reputation itself. Otherwise; writing pieces that get upvoted by Curie or Utopian... or producing a video for Dtube or answering questions for Musing.io are all great ways to get some bigger upvotes and increase your reputation. I disagree with the use of bidbots too, it's extremely hard to "win" with those guys.

    there is far too many people posting good content for a few upvoting campaigns to see. Its why only 50-60k of people out of 1.1 million accounts are active because they come in hope of earning a little and very rarely does it happen. Only big steem power holders can really earn or early adopters of free smt coins like steemhunt itself. So many witnesses even admit to this so I'm glad your so optimistic but realistically, its only a few who get success. Steemhunt is great but Steemit rep isn't a good way of seeing how good a user is like I said but thats just my 2 cents, Steemhunt will do good either way, just think there must be a better way of choosing applicants.

    Love the well-thought out quantitative approach to the Influencers! I've honestly thought the Influencer system worked really well, especially in it's first few weeks... the Top 10 suddenly looked really exciting and was filled with products I really liked... really, really excited to see how this new system goes... it looks like finding hunts that haven't already been voted by another Influencer will be key to a good Influencer score. The Steemhunt team just keeps knocking out home runs!
