Random Japan!

Despite the title of this issue, let's start with some flowers. They make for a better post thumbnail ;)

Yes yes, again with the wisteria. I love these things. I ride right by them as I take my son to his preschool everyday, so I get to enjoy them everyday.

God Likes Clean Hands

All shrines have a washing station like this. There is a ritual as to how you should clean your hands (and mouth, and feet), but not so many people follow it these days so let's not worry too much. Just clean your hands before you go to pray at the shrine. Japanese gods seems to prefer cleanliness.

Crest of the Shogun

If you read anything about Japan, chances are pretty good you have seen this symbol. The mitsubaaoi—triple hollyhock. It was the Tokugawa family crest, the family that controlled Japan for ~250 years. You will find it all over Japan, but being that Okazaki is the birthplace of Ieyasu, founder of the Tokugawa, this symbol pops up literally everywhere around town.

We'll part with a random photo I took last night on the way home. I am always taking photos of shadows for my Shadows photo project. They give nice abstract looks at the world around us. <deep thought>Maybe our world is just shadows of yet another higher dimension.</deep thought> Hmmm. 🤔

That's all folks. The end of another random day in Japan. Hope you enjoyed it! Come back tomorrow for another one. See you then!
