Random Japan #37 :: Float On

in #randomjapan6 years ago

Welcome to another edition of your favorite look at Japan and mine too, Random Japan. Today seems like more of a mellow day to me. Hmm... almost like a Lazy Sunday. In that vein, we have a relaxing scene, some percolated abstraction, and ... a bridge. It's a cool bridge though—trust me. Let's get started!

Random Japan!

Float On

Something about the clouds inspired me to take this shot. When I look at it now, the Beatles pop into my head:

Turn off your mind, relax and float down stream

No acid was involved in the making of this shot, I swear. Not that I'm aware of anyway. At any rate, sometimes that is the best thing to do: stop thinking so much—turn off your mind—and just chill out—relax—watch the clouds float by. The real world and all the worries therein can wait a little bit as you lose yourself in the moment. Now that is real magic.

Those Were the Days

To carry the mellow theme, here are some wisteria in a bit of a strange edit. Yes—the wisteria remain! A few posts ago I worried that they would be knocked down by the rain and would be even shorter than this year's cherry blossoms, but they are still hanging in there.

This was made with the Percolator app on iOS, by the way. It is one of my favorite apps for creative edits.

Under the Bridge

Ah, yes, the aforementioned bridge. This is right next to the castle keep—you can see the base of the keep on the right side. I'm curious why it was built this way. Looks like as long as the moat is low it acts as a dam, but if they flooded part of the moat then it would allow the water through to fill all of the moat. Was this a common thing with Japanese castles? Anyone know?

That's all, folks. Another Random Japan come and gone. Hope you enjoyed it. See you tomorrow for more!

Love the abstraction on the wisteria. I remember the shot:) A random trip to Japan is still a trip to Japan:):):)

I'm sure you have a lot of photos from your time in Japan. You should post some of them (using the #randomjapan tag)

It was years ago ... they are all hardcopy. It was another time:)

haha for many of us, it is still that time. I have many archives on film and still use film cameras. I prefer film. My favorite camera is my Rolliflex, an old medium format film camera from the 30s. A good scanner is all you need to get them online.

If by a good scanner ... you mean a digital picture of a film picture ... I'm on it:) LOL
