Mini Motivation #51 - Do you deliberately take the longer route in life?

in #psychology7 years ago

I had an insightful chat with my good friend, Dato James (God knows when he will be on Steemit so I can tag him), and as usual, we exchanged business and life philosophies.

We talked about goals and enjoying the journey, which is what most people will tell you. And then we thought,

“What if we want to enjoy the journey so much that we deliberately don't look for, or even take, shortcuts?"

You see that in real life actually, where your colleagues or friends would rather take the longer route to get somewhere, the harder method to achieve the same results, and not look for easier ways. Are they really addicted to the process that much that they intentionally prolong it?

This calls for some solid questions for self-reflections, and to really get the most out of them, you have to be really objective and honest with yourself. Honesty because these are the questions you'd normally dismiss, either due to denial or ego, but hides from your the greatest truth behind your success (or lack there of).

  • How often do you review the processes you use to get something done?
  • When was the last time you tried to refine your ways of doing things?
  • Have you looked at other means to achieve the same results? Could the results be better?
  • Are you addicted to your ways that you are in denial of other strategies, perhaps even the better ones?
  • Is it lack of knowledge, exposure and experience? Or is it due to personal ego?
  • Have you been walking too long that you haven't actually stopped to look back from where you came?

Mini Motivation is my own daily strategy to inspire myself. Mostly 3 minute reads.

From Motivation, we gain Inspiration. From Inspiration, we achieve Momentum. And the rest, they say, is history.

Hope it helps nudge you a bit too in the right direction.

Oh it did? Let me know in the comments, and of course an upvote would be a nice motivation for me. :)

Stay awesome!

Wait, why's Mav posting on Steemit nowadays?

Well, unlike other blogging and social media platform, Steemit is the only platform that allows me to earn cryptocurrency when I engage with it. Yup, one Steem is about USD5, and you, too, can earn Steem Dollars every time you:

  • Create content (articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, photos)
  • Upvote (like) other people contents
  • Comment on other people's posts
  • Have discussions, share opinions etc!

Yup, basically it's the very same thing you're doing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc all along!

The only difference? For once you can earn a nice income on the side!

Sign up for a free Steemit account, and you can thank me by coming back and upvoting this article. And guess what, you will earn Steem too for doing that! #awesome

So the idea is that there are a bunch of people out there who are subconciously hindering their chances for success?

I like to think the fear of success is as real as fear of failure.

Honestly speaking, I rarely do this type of exercise but this mini motivation definitely motivated me. Thanks a lot sir. I would say the planning part is the most important one before starting a journey.

High five, bro! Stay awesome!
