The Steem is Rising - 2018 is going to be a good, good year - are you feeling the buzz?

in #promo-steem7 years ago

I started on steemit in June of this year.

From the beginning I got involved in a thriving and rapidly expanding homesteading and prepping community.

For the first couple of months all was good. It was a great time. Lots to learn. Many new friends to make. Ideas a plenty. And the occasional Curie upvote thrown in for good measure.

Then the varnish began to tarnish. Activity dropped. Upvotes declined. Homesteaders went home. Preppers were unprepared.

And the mood on the platform seemed to darken. Spam bots. Flag wars. DDOS attacks. Negativity got the upper hand.

The steem price faded. The steemit site slowed to a crawl. New accounts dropped. Comments almost disappeared. The bots were on the verge of taking over.

Then something changed. I can't put a finger on it. It was around the time of SteemFest.

Good vibes began to trickle back. SMTs were announced. Steemit got a new logo. The steemit.com site sped up.

The True Steemians began to stand tall.

@Stellabelle led the charge of the whales. Delegations flowed. @fulltimegeek brought his Stewards of Gondor to the field.

Projects in the waiting burst forth on the platform - @utopian-io, @dtube, @dsound, @dmania, @dlive, d-everything you can think of.

The #promo-steem / #promo-uk projects led by @stephenkendal, @starkerz and @anarcotech got the backing of @andrarchy and moved up a gear or two.

Witnesses like @aggroed, @jerrybanfield and @timcliff initiated projects like the Steem Panel Discussions and Steem Works.

Big YouTubers like @davidpakman arrived on steemit.

Projects like PAL's @msp-waves radio blossomed and @SirCork's @youarehope blockchain charity sprung into life.

There started to be a positive buzz around steemit.

Then SBDs took off. Although they are supposed to be pegged to the US dollar they suddently rocketed to 5, 6, 7, 8... times the value.

Post rewards suddenly became worth a whole lot more. There was dancing in Steem Street.

For me steemit turned round. I really began to enjoy it again as I had in the first couple of months.

I got involved in new projects. I started my A Dollar A Day daily giving. My #futurechronicles writing contests proved popular. SteemCommerce and the list of Businesses Accepting Payment in steem took me in a new direction.

The future is really looking exciting.

steem is climbing just like it should.

I have now become a co-host on @globocop's Saturday night radio show on MSP Waves. My own Alternative Lifestyle Show starts very soon.

The first Wales steemit meetup is planned for the new year.

This afternoon I met someone interested in steemit. It took me all of five minutes to convince them. They signed up on the spot.

This is the way. Show them and they will sign.

My mind is buzzing with ideas. Steem is reaching for the sky.

2018 is going to be a good, good year.

Yeah, there was a late/summer/fall sleep - and people were discouraged by the below $1 SBD, performance issues, and increase in spamster. Good to see a new energy surging through Steem.

A good reminder though, Steemit is goint to be what we make of it.

Steem is just a blockchain and steemit is just lines of code.

It is the people that make this place special.

I quite agree with you. The steem is really steeming very hotter. Thank God I joined. I am really feeling the BUZZ. Nice post.

Keep on steeming.

@pennsif, it was nice to read the history from your eyes.
Although I am a new member, you made me visualize the road so far...
I agree with you and I can say that we are at the dawn of a new era for social media, economics and total change.
The history will write these days.

Stay positive.

FD.

Thank you for your comments and thank you for the resteem.

We are part of history...

So glad this platform exists, i still feel like im learning and its mostly down to yourself @pennsif and others guiding me. I'm sure the future of steemit!

Happy to help. Looking forward to meeting you and @artystuff at the first Wales steemit meetup in the new year.

Very much so. Looking forward to sharing the knowledge = D

I think the homesteader posts slowed down with the change of seasons, I know mine did. I still haven't found something else to write about on a regular basis. I'll come up with something to take me into spring when I can start writing about the garden again.

You are very right. I am sure the homesteader community will bloom again when the days lengthen and the air feels warmer...

I noticed that shift too, although I couldn't peg it, but you're right it was around steemfest.
I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve. Remind me, is your upcoming show going to be available as a podcast? That's the only way I can listen and I would love to listen in.

Hi @frugallady - the show will go out live on MSP Waves Radio via Discord and Twitch. But I am hoping to be able record the shows to put them out afterwards on YouTube or DTube afterwards.

Steemit to the moon! As I have been hearing lately... I am glad I joined as it started going good, and it shall not slow down with such awesome people!

Welcome aboard!

@pennsif this post was presented at the most recent Pimp Your Post Thursday on the Steemit Ramble Discord. I have written a post to share your featured post. Just stopping back to let you know that you can see your name in lights right here. (Just kidding about the lights :)

Hi @shadowspub, that's great. Thank you.

I await that moment when Facebook users would be like: Had I known

I’m glad you are getting inspired again. I jumped on board when it started to pick up, so I don’t have much of a reference. I heard about it from a friend that moved to Kentucky to homestead. I signed up right before they switched out the logo and updated the ui. The first time I visited I was rather put back, being a web designer the previous design iteration was lacking quite a bit. It was also crashing and super slow like you mentioned, and I just left it alone. I came back a week or two later and it was all updated and running fast. That was the game changer for me, and I think the presentation made a big difference for new users to trust and believe in the platform. Let’s keep it going! We are all benefiting so much from that SBD price. Not sure how long it will last, but let’s make sure we stay strong and engaged even after SBD levels back down

Glad you came back after you first saw the rather 'broken' site before.

Yes SBD price is certainly adding a cheer to steemit at the moment...
