POETRY: Dancing With the Creatures of the Night

DANCING WITH THE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT

She held out her hand
And wanted me still
To cross over boundaries
That will remain here until
What's known is forgotten
And buried beneath
Our love has unfrozen
And no more out of reach

She invited me in to
The world she had built
To protect her from all those
Who feed off her guilt
And render her speechless
Her words turned to stone
But her invite was golden
As was her throne

I watched as she tore down
The stone walls all around
They kept me safe from all evil
She spoke without sound
I used to dance with the creatures
Who would inhabit the night
In search of my meaning
In search of my light

But those creatures were tricksters
They meant to do wrong
To all who sought respite
Through their music and song
They live for the loosh
So they may feed all their lives
And give love that is false
To confuse tender minds

And she said - I am wiser
I have grown in my ways
Now these walls that were built
Don't belong here today
And I watched as her heart
Illuminated all it beheld
All creatures escorted
Buried deep in the ground

I was once self assured
She said with a smile
I had the power to love life
When I was a child
Angels were my friends
I could speak with their kind
But the creatures removed them
As they emptied my mind

An angel did teach me
To find your own spark
The creatures will feed off
Your fear of the dark
But a God in child's clothing
Is a warrior who
Can defeat all the demons
And teach it to you.
